Examined Oct 2, 2026 A cart discount, not cash No link we may carry

Peloton's referral takes $150 to $600 off a first machine, the $600 is for the two Tread+ models alone, and it only works if the link is used at the moment you buy.

Worth it ifyou had already decided to buy a Peloton machine, you know an active All-Access Member, and no Peloton sale beats the referral figure for your model. It is a discount on a large purchase that then needs a paid membership, not a reason to buy.

$150 to $600off your first Peloton machine

Peloton advertises the top figure. The terms set the discount by model, and $600 belongs to the Cross-Training Tread+ and the Tread+ Vision. Peloton's home-trial page listed the Cross-Training Tread+ at $6,695 on the day we read it, so $600 is about 9% off ($600 divided by $6,695). The Cross-Training Bike, listed at $1,695, gets $250, about 15% ($250 divided by $1,695).

Buy first and ask later, and the discount is gone. The terms for the new customer say: “The referral link must be used at the time of purchase of the Peloton Hardware. The Discount cannot be applied retroactively.” Buying by phone or in a showroom, tell the Peloton associate you wish to use a referral link.

The discounts are the US row of the table in the referral terms; packages built on a listed machine get the same figure. The list prices are from Peloton's home-trial page. Its financing footnote prices a Refurbished Peloton Bike at $1,145 and a Refurbished Peloton Bike+ at $1,995, names that differ from the terms' Original Refurbished models.

Do this, in this order

  1. Check that you qualify, and that your member still can refer. The terms say: “You must be a new customer to Peloton and must not already own any Peloton Hardware or have a Peloton subscription.” The member whose link you use must be an active All-Access Member. App-only members, rental members, members whose membership is on pause and Peloton employees cannot refer. Each member can refer 4 people per calendar year, and if yours has passed that number the terms say the discount will not be available to you. Ask them before you order.
  2. Compare the referral with whatever sale is running. “Your Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or promotions.” Peloton's own example is that purchases made during certain promotional periods may not be stackable with the referral. The discount is also good for one single transaction and cannot be split across purchases. If a sale takes more off your model than the table above, take the sale.
  3. Buy through the member's link. Peloton's guide says the equipment referral link does not expire and that the discount applies automatically in the cart. Check the cart total before you pay, because nothing can be added afterwards.
  4. Know what a return costs before the machine arrives. First-time buyers get a 30-day home trial that starts on the day of delivery. Payment is up front. A return costs $150 for a Bike or Bike+ and $250 for a Tread, Tread+ or Row+, and assembly fees paid at purchase are not refunded. The trial covers the 48 contiguous states only. Neither page says how a referral discount is handled on a return.
  5. Budget for the membership. The home-trial page says an All-Access Membership is required to access all Peloton content on the hardware, and the Membership Terms say it recurs monthly or annually until canceled, with no prorated refund for the period you cancel in. On promotions they add: “Unless specified in writing, all discount offers that require payment are non-refundable (including but not limited to annual Peloton subscriptions).” A billing error has to be raised within 60 days of the billing date.

Where Peloton's pages disagree, and what it does not publish

Who a member may give the link to. Peloton's guide, updated April 22, 2026, tells members they can share the link with anyone they like, short of sharing it en masse like an influencer. The terms are narrower: friends and family only, never the general public, and they name deal or coupon aggregator sites and review sites or videos as abuse that can cost the member the program. A link found on a public site is one Peloton may refuse to honor.

What a home-trial return refunds. One answer on the home-trial page promises a free pickup and a full refund. The same page says elsewhere that the refund excludes the return fee. Plan on paying the fee.

Whether an App trial counts as a subscription. Any new member can take a 30-day free trial of the Peloton App with no referral. It needs a credit card and bills automatically unless canceled before the trial ends. The referral terms bar anyone who has a Peloton subscription and do not say whether an App trial or App Membership counts. If you plan to buy a machine, settle that with Peloton before you start the App trial.

The Guest Pass rules. The guide says members can hand out Guest Passes for a 60-day free trial of the App, for new Members only, on iOS and Web and not on Android. The support article holding its terms did not load for us on two attempts, so we have not read them.

No end date, and no membership price we could read. No page prints a closing date. The terms say “The Discount shall be valid while supplies last” and let Peloton change or end the program at any time without further notice. The membership pages we saved showed no monthly price, so we print none. The Membership Terms are dated October 1, 2025.

Is it worth your time?

If you were going to buy the machine anyway and a friend or relative is an All-Access Member, yes. Their link costs you nothing and takes $250 off a $1,695 Cross-Training Bike. Do not read the headline as $600 unless you are buying a Tread+ or Tread+ Vision, and do not let a 9% to 15% discount talk you into a purchase that carries a membership bill for as long as you use it.

If you are the member, the reward is modest: one free month per successful referral, up to 4 a year. The voucher code arrives by email, in 3 to 5 days for an online purchase or up to two weeks for an in-store one, and is void after three months. The link and any awarded codes also expire if your membership or account lapses, is terminated or is suspended. If you know no member, the 30-day App trial is the only offer open to you, and it is a trial of the App, not money off a machine.
