All offers / Money apps / TurboTax / Does TurboTax have a coupon?
TurboTax has no public coupon code, and its cart would throw a second one away regardless.
Intuit’s help centre: "A service code is a special code that applies a discount to the TurboTax Online fee. These codes are provided by our specialists for specific, predetermined reasons, and aren’t considered coupons."
The one code box, and what fits in it
In the File section, not at checkout: select "I have a service code." Three rules narrow it further.
| One tax year | "Service codes are valid for the specified tax year" |
|---|---|
| One use | Can "be used only once" |
| One per return | "can’t accept more than one service code" |
Six real discounts, none of them a code
| Enlisted active duty or reserve, E-1 through E-9, with a DFAS W-2 | Free federal and state |
|---|---|
| TurboTax Free Edition, for a simple Form 1040 return | $0 |
| A bank, credit union or insurer partner link | Their negotiated price |
| Uber or Lyft driver dashboard link | Partner discount |
| A referral link from a person you know | 20% off federal |
| Desktop box bought at Costco, Sam’s Club or BJ’s | $10 add-on credit |
| A service code from a TurboTax support specialist | Varies, one per return |
| A coupon code found on a deal site | Not a thing TurboTax issues |
| Any two of the above at once | Best one only |
- Military. "Offer valid for active duty and reservists of an enlisted rank (E-1 through E-9) with a W2 from DFAS": free federal and state on "Free, Deluxe, and Premium." Excluded: "Not valid for TurboTax Experts or TurboTax Desktop products," and "Commissioned officers, warrant officers, veterans, retirees and National Guard do not qualify for free TurboTax Online discounts at this time." Verify your rank: "Your military tax discount will be applied when you are ready to file."
- Free Edition. A price, not a discount: "Simple returns 100% free," "~37% of filers qualify. Simple Form 1040 returns only (no schedules, except for EITC, CTC, student loan interest, and Schedule 1-A)."
- Bank, credit union or insurer. Start on their site and follow the link. "Do not start directly at TurboTax.com, which charges the nonaffiliate price."
- Uber and Lyft. Same routing, harsher rule: "Our agents are unable to apply or issue refunds for Uber partner discounts if the return was prepared at the regular TurboTax.com site."
- Wholesale club credit. Costco, Sam’s Club or BJ’s boxed Desktop products "include the one-time $10 credit," recognized "through your unique License Code." Limited to one per license code, and "expires April 30, 2026."
- Referral. "20% off the preparation and filing of their individual federal tax return or business federal tax return through a TurboTax Online or TurboTax Experts product, good through October 31, 2026," applied automatically by "the unique referral link from their friend." The sharer is bound by the no-deal-site clause in the disclosure below.
Search stays full of codes because real partner pricing gets relabelled "no code needed." More: why codes fail on deal sites.
Five checks that save the most time
- Were you ever going to pay? Free Edition covers simple 1040s only, ~37% of filers. Price what you need on the pricing page first.
- Check your rank, if you serve. The largest discount here, and it needs no code.
- Check your bank, insurer or driver dashboard first. Partner pricing is invisible from TurboTax.com; for Uber it must happen before you start the return.
- Ask a person for a referral link, not a website. No commercial page may hand you one.
- Watch the cart total, not a badge. If it doesn't move, something better was already applied; the 20% not applying covers the rest.
Common questions
Is there a working TurboTax coupon code?
No public one. Only a service code, and Intuit says those "aren’t considered coupons".
Is TurboTax free for military?
Enlisted E-1 through E-9 only, free federal and state.
Is it worth your time?
No. Three one-minute checks replace the hunt: Free Edition, your rank, your bank's site. Ask a friend for a referral link if you're new, then watch the total at checkout.
