No port-in, no $25. Port one in and US Mobile pays it as real money, not bill credit, after six billing cycles.
US Mobile calls it "Give $25. Get $25." and it is the outlier in phone plans: the reward is not bill credit, it is a US Mobile Rewards Prepaid Mastercard issued by Patriot Bank, N.A., which you can spend anywhere cards are taken. Two strings attached. The card carries an expiration date and any balance still on it expires with it, and nothing pays out until six billing cycles are behind you.
What pays what
| You, the new customer, after all four conditions are met | $25 |
|---|---|
| Signing up without porting in a number | $0 |
| Spend on Light or Custom plans, top-ups, devices, add-ons, roaming | Does not count |
| Anyone who already has a US Mobile account | $0 |
That $25 figure is US Mobile's own, read on its referral page on July 24, 2026 alongside terms last updated March 17, 2026. A page quoting a flat $100 or $250 is wrong.
Do this, in this order
- Get the link privately from someone you know. A friend already on US Mobile generates it in their own account and sends it to you directly. They also need an active, paid line of their own for their side to count.
- Sign up for a paid plan within 30 days. New customers get a 30 day window from the referral to start a paid plan. Miss it and the referral does not attach, whatever you do afterwards.
- Port in a real number. This is mandatory and it is the most common way people fall out. Porting in means moving your existing phone number over from your current carrier instead of accepting a fresh one. Any network counts as an origin, but taking a brand new number does not qualify at all.
- Pick a plan that counts. Only spend on Unlimited, By the Gig, or Smartwatch plans counts toward the $100. Light plans and Custom plans do not count, and neither do top-ups, devices, add-ons, roaming, or certain promotions. Choosing the cheapest thing on the menu can quietly disqualify the whole referral.
- Watch the annual-plan trap. Annual plans are prorated monthly for this purpose. US Mobile's own example: a $228 annual plan counts as $114 after six months. So a customer who pays a year up front can finish the six cycles having only "spent" half of it and still not clear the $100 bar. Do the arithmetic before you prepay.
- Stay active and in good standing for six billing cycles. A billing cycle is one month of service on your account, and six have to complete continuously before anything is issued. Pause, lapse, or cancel in month five and the referral simply never pays.
- Spend the card before it expires. The prepaid Mastercard needs identity details before it can be issued and is valid only through the expiration date printed on it. Treat it as $25 you should spend within the year, not money in an account.
The fine print that decides whether it pays at all
Six months is a long time to be wrong about a rule. These are the ones that quietly void a referral after the work is done.
Shared households can be read as the same person. US Mobile disqualifies referrals where the two accounts share the same billing address, payment method, or IP address. Referring your housemate over the same wifi, on the same card, is exactly the pattern it screens for.
Existing and returning customers are barred. A referral is disqualified if you already have an account. This has to be a genuinely new customer.
Promotional signups may not count toward the $100. US Mobile's terms exclude promotions listed on its own promo archive from the qualifying spend, and say the referral cannot be combined with other offers. If you sign up during a sale, the discount can eat into the very spend the referral is measured against.
US Mobile's own timing statements disagree with each other. One line says rewards are typically processed within 24 hours to 2 weeks, measured from the end of the six-month cycle. Another line on the same page says rewards are processed within 30 days after plan activation and verification. We are not going to pick one for you. Plan on roughly six months plus a couple of weeks.
There is nothing to claw back, which cuts both ways. Because no money moves until the six cycles complete, an early cancellation does not trigger a reversal. It just means the reward never existed, and you carry all of the waiting risk.
Is it worth your time?
As a reason to switch carriers, no. As a bonus on a switch you were already making, yes, and it is the best-shaped reward on this page because the card spends anywhere, which no bill credit can. The price of that is patience and precision. You need a number to port, a plan from the qualifying list, $100 of spend that actually counts, and six clean billing cycles, and if any one of those slips you get nothing at all. Six months of staying with a carrier you dislike is an expensive way to earn $25, so decide on the plan first and let the referral be the part that comes free.
If you stick around and refer others yourself, US Mobile pays you $25 for each of your first two successful referrals in a calendar year, $75 for the third, $100 for the fourth, and $225 for each of the fifth through tenth, capped at 10 referrals and $1,575 a year.
