A hardware wallet is a small device that keeps the keys to your crypto offline, so someone who breaks into your computer still cannot move your coins. Several hardware wallet programs we read give the buyer nothing at all. This one pays the buyer real money.
Trezor is closing this program
Trezor’s terms, last updated October 14, 2026, now carry the title Legacy Refer-A-Friend Program and set out the shutdown in section 7. For a buyer, the date that matters is December 27, 2026. The cutoff is 11:59 p.m. Central European Time, which is 5:59 p.m. Eastern.

We are closing the Program. The Program ends on 4 January 2027 (the "Closing Date").
Trezor says a new referral program in Trezor Suite replaces this one, under its own terms, which we have not read. Nothing carries over on its own: to take part, an owner must join the new program in Trezor Suite and accept its terms. The $49 minimum and the never-bought rule below are unchanged.

The Referred Friend must be a new customer who has never previously purchased products on the Trezor Shop and who complete their purchase directly using the referral link.
One detail worth holding lightly: the 10% appears on Trezor’s Refer-A-Friend page, help center and blog, but not in the binding terms. Those terms, last updated October 14, 2026, spell out the $49 minimum and never state the buyer’s percentage at all, so confirm the discount has actually applied in your cart before you pay. The terms also ban posting referral links on coupon sites, public forums, and social pages the sender does not own, so a genuine Trezor link comes from a person you know.
Do this, in this order
- Check you are genuinely a new Trezor Shop customer. Never previously purchased means never, not never bought a wallet. Search your inbox for an old Trezor receipt first; everything else here is wasted effort if one turns up.
- Get the link from someone who already owns a Trezor. The terms define the sender as a customer who has made a purchase on the Trezor Shop, yet Trezor’s help center says “If you haven't made an order yourself yet but want to share a referral code, you can still register and share a link.” Either way, you may only use one referral link, and “only the link actually used during checkout will be considered for the reward.” There is no public code to hunt for. Ask soon: links stop working on December 28, 2026.
- Reach $49 before tax and shipping, and do not wait for a sale. The minimum order value is 49 USD or equivalent, excluding taxes, shipping and similar costs, so a basket that reads $49 at checkout may not qualify. Referral discounts also cannot be combined with other discounts, promotions or offers, Black Friday and Cyber Monday included. If a sale is running, work out which is worth more and take that one, not both. Place and pay for the order by 11:59 p.m. CET on December 27, 2026, the last day a referral discount can be used.
- Buy only from Trezor’s official shop. This matters more than the 10%. Trezor puts it bluntly: never buy from an unauthorized third party, because you can never tell who had access to it first. The sources Trezor calls most likely safe are the official Trezor Shop, its Amazon storefront, or an authorized reseller. A tampered or already set up wallet hands your coins to a stranger.
- Check the device arrives with no firmware on it. Firmware is the software that runs on the device itself, and Trezor ships every device without any, so you install it during setup. A wallet that already has firmware out of the box means someone got there first, and it should not be used.
- Write the recovery seed on paper, and treat it as the money. During setup the device shows you a recovery seed: the list of words that is the master key to everything on the wallet. Write it on paper, store it somewhere private, never type it into a phone or computer, never photograph it, and never tell it to anyone. Trezor’s own guide is plain: “Never store your wallet backup digitally.”
- Expect phishing, because Trezor customer data leaked twice in 2026. In August, Trezor said a breach at its shipping provider ShipMonk exposed names, emails, phone numbers and shipping addresses of 11,742 customers, with 1,947 more partly exposed, and later added approximately 67,000 US customers from orders placed between November 2019 and August 2021. In September, an attacker used Brevo, Trezor’s newsletter provider, to send a fake “Critical Security Alert” from Trezor’s own account to roughly 347,000 addresses, linking to an app that asked for the wallet backup. No Trezor device or wallet was affected either time. Trezor’s answer: “We will never contact you asking for your wallet backup.” It also suggests ordering with an email address not linked to your identity, and a P.O. Box where possible.
Is it worth your time?
If you already decided to buy a Trezor, then yes, spend the two minutes asking an owner for their link. Ten percent of a first order is real money off, not points or store credit, and among the wallet referrals we have read only Tangem matches it. Asking costs you nothing, but do it soon: a link works only for orders placed and paid by December 27, 2026. If you are not sure you need a hardware wallet yet, the 10% is not a reason to become sure.
If you are the one referring
An owner who shares a link earns a $20 Trezor discount voucher, not cash, emailed within 21 days of a confirmed purchase and only if the order is not refunded, canceled or disputed. The terms cap it at 50 referrals and $1,000 per 12-month period. Because the program is closing, orders still under review when the links switch off are reviewed early, and their vouchers arrive by January 4, 2027. Every voucher from the program can be used until January 4, 2028. After that it expires, with no cash in its place. Trezor takes no new registrations from November 19, 2026, and the replacement program in Trezor Suite has to be joined there, under its own terms.
