Ledger’s shop attaches the voucher to specific named links, and ours is not one of them. So which link you arrive on decides whether any of it reaches you, and which device you buy decides how much. A hardware wallet, a small device that keeps your crypto keys offline so a hacker who gets into your computer still cannot move your coins, is worth buying carefully either way, and no voucher changes that.

This is the whole of “up to $20”. The headline number sits on the two most expensive devices in the range, so a reader who came for the $20 and buys the entry-level Nano S Plus collects $5.
The Referrer and the Invitee are eligible to receive respectively one (1) Referral Reward (for the Referrer) and one (1) Gift Card (for the Invitee) per Qualified Referral only, irrespective of the number of products purchased by the Invitee (as defined below);
So one order earns one voucher, however many devices are in it; on an order of several devices, the same terms pay the voucher for the highest-value one.

The five voucher-bearing links named in the shop’s configuration belong to other people. We are not going to publish somebody else’s referral link as though it were a favor to you, and we cannot tell you which creators currently hold one.
Traps to know before you buy
- “Up to $20” means $5 on the cheapest device. The ceiling belongs to the Flex and the Stax. If you are buying an entry-level Nano, price the voucher at $5 and decide on the device, not the sweetener.
- Our link is not one of the voucher-bearing ones. We loaded it, waited for the page to finish building itself, and compared it against the plain shop: no card reading “+$10 of free BTC” or “+$20 of free BTC” appeared, and our code is absent from the shop’s list of named links. We did not put a device in a basket, so we cannot swear to what happens at checkout.
- How to check any link in ten seconds. Open it, let the page settle, and look for a card offering free bitcoin. A link carrying the voucher advertises it on the landing page. If nothing appears, treat the link as paying you nothing.
- Read the four rules in Ledger’s terms that decide whether the voucher pays. They are on the shop, marked “Modified: July 8th, 2025”, and we wrongly told you until September 18, 2026 that they did not exist. One: “Purchases are required to have been made at full-price and not during any promotional period”, so a sale price and the voucher do not stack. Two: “An Invitee who has purchased a Ledger Product in the past is not eligible to be an Invitee again”, so it is a first-device offer. Three: you “can claim a Reward after a 30-days period”, in the Refer-a-friend app inside Ledger Live, by signing in with an Ethereum address and giving a Bitcoin address that Ledger’s payment provider screens. Four, and the one that bites: the voucher arrives as a scratch card in the box, and if you change your mind “You must return the Ledger Product along with the unscratched Card for a full refund.” Do not scratch it until you are sure you are keeping the device.
- Third-party sellers are the expensive mistake. People have received tampered or already-set-up devices from marketplace sellers, and a pre-set-up wallet hands your coins to a stranger. This matters far more than any voucher.
- Expect phishing, because of Ledger’s 2020 breach. A leaked customer database from 2020 still fuels convincing fake “Ledger” emails, texts and even printed letters asking you to verify your recovery phrase or install an update. Ledger will never ask for your 24 words. Anyone who does is stealing.
- Read the return policy before you break the seal. For security reasons an opened hardware wallet can be difficult to return, so be sure of the model before you open it.
Do this, in this order
- Decide whether you actually need one. A hardware wallet earns its keep once you hold an amount you would hate to lose to a hacked exchange or a drained hot wallet. Holding pocket change, it may be more device than you need yet.
- Pick the device first, then look at the voucher. The gap between $5 and $20 is a device-price gap of a few hundred dollars. Never buy up a tier to chase $15 of bitcoin.
- Check whether your link shows a voucher card, and prefer one that does.
- Buy only from Ledger’s official store. Whichever link you use, the destination should be Ledger’s own shop, so the device arrives sealed and untouched.
- Set it up yourself and write the 24 words on paper. During setup the device shows you a recovery phrase, 24 words that are the master key to everything on it. Write them on paper, store them somewhere private, and never type them into a phone or computer, never photograph them, and never tell them to anyone. Whoever holds those words holds your crypto.
Is it worth your time?
If you hold real crypto and want it off exchanges, a Ledger is a sound buy, and the two things that decide whether it protects you are free: buy it from the official store, and guard the 24 words like cash. The voucher is a rounding error next to that. It is worth having, it is worth understanding that it is $5 on the cheapest device in the range, and it is worth arriving through a link that carries it. Ours does not. If what you actually want is a signup bonus, an exchange offer that pays you outright is a better use of ten minutes than a wallet purchase dressed up as one.
