Todoist gives a new user nothing for signing up through a link, and monthly plans are never refunded.
Articles elsewhere describe a Todoist refer-a-friend reward. We found none on Todoist's own pages. What exists is the Partner Program, an affiliate scheme for creators who apply and are approved. Upgrade through a partner's link and you pay the standard price. Todoist's discount article says: “Otherwise, there aren't any additional discounts or separate promotions for students, families, or non-profit organizations.” The one saving it names is paying yearly.
What pays what
| You, opening a free account, with or without a link | Beginner plan, no reward |
|---|---|
| You, on Pro | $7 a month, or $60 a year ($5 a month billed yearly) |
| Your team, on Business | $10 per user a month, or $8 billed yearly ($96 per user a year) |
| Free trials listed in the billing FAQ | 7 days for Pro, 14 days for Business |
| Yearly plan cancelled within 30 days of purchase or renewal | Refund |
| Monthly plan, at any point | No refund |
Yearly plans are refundable within 30 days of purchase or renewal. On Pro, you can request the refund yourself from your subscription settings. On Business, cancel your team first, then get in touch with us to request it. Monthly subscriptions aren't refundable.
Do this, in this order
- Drop the code hunt. A partner's link does not change what you pay. If a site promises you free Pro time for using its code, no Todoist page we read backs that up.
- Start on Beginner. It is free, with up to 5 active personal projects, up to 3 custom filter views, 7 days of activity history and 5 MB file uploads. Hit those limits before you pay to lift them.
- Know what a trial asks of you. The billing FAQ lists a 7-day free trial for Pro and a 14-day one for Business. The Business trial article says: “Enter your payment information to start the trial.” Each team gets one Business trial.
- If you pay, pay yearly. Twelve monthly payments of $7 come to $84; the yearly plan is $60, so yearly saves $24 and is the only way to get a refund window. Buy through one channel only. Todoist warns App Store users: “Make sure to sign up for only one subscription at a time to avoid being billed twice.”
- Cancel before the renewal date, and put it in your calendar. The Terms of Service say: “You must cancel your subscription before it renews in order to avoid billing of the next periodic Subscription Fee to your account.” After you cancel, paid features last until the current billing period ends.
What the Partner Program means for you
Coupons exist in the terms, with no size. The Partner Program terms say partners may be given coupons or discounts for Todoist customers or prospects. No page we read says how large any of them is.
Why this site has no link. Among uses the terms do not approve: “Use your referral link on a coupon, promo, or deal site as well as adult, dating or any site that promotes illegal content.” They do approve a link in a review or vendor comparison that reflects the partner's opinion, and they let Todoist end a partner's access “at any time and for any reason with or without notice and without liability”.
Where Todoist's documents differ
The contract promises less than the help page. The Terms of Service, effective August 27th, 2026, say fees are non-refundable except where the law requires, and that prepaid fees are non-refundable and non-cancellable unless otherwise stated on the help page. The 30-day yearly refund lives only in the billing FAQ, a help article Todoist last updated on September 29, 2026. Save a copy of it when you pay.
The partner terms describe a wider refund. They say that within 30 days of the purchase date, new customers are eligible for a full refund, with no split between monthly and yearly. The billing FAQ, written for customers, says monthly subscriptions are not refundable. Go by the billing FAQ.
Not published. No end date for the Partner Program, no size for partner coupons, and no statement we found on whether the Pro trial asks for a card. The Terms of Service send disputes to individual arbitration unless you opt out by letter within 30 days of agreeing.
Is it worth your time?
Not as a bonus, because there is none. Judge Todoist as a product: use Beginner until its limits bother you, and if you need Pro, try it for the 7 days the FAQ lists. Each Pro subscription covers one Todoist account; it cannot be shared with family.
If you decide to pay, the choice that matters is the billing cycle. Yearly is $24 cheaper over twelve months and gives you 30 days to change your mind. Monthly gives you none. A code from a partner's site cannot change either fact.
