Figma pays a new user nothing to sign up, and the affiliate program its terms page still describes stopped taking applications on 8/16/2024.
Figma's affiliate terms never promised the new user anything. Under its Affiliate Partner Program the customer paid the ordinary price. Even that is over: Figma's program page says the pilot was sunset as of 8/16/2024. What remains online is the terms document that governed it, carrying the line “Last Updated: 9.14.2023”, still written as if the program were running.
What pays what
| You, opening a free Starter account, with or without a link | Free plan, no reward |
|---|---|
| You, buying a Professional full seat | $16 a month on the pricing page we read, plus 3,000 AI credits a month, no discount |
| Anyone applying to the affiliate program today | Nothing. Applications closed 8/16/2024 |
We have sunset the affiliate program pilot as of 8/16/2024 and will no longer be accepting new applications.
The same page still carries the old pitch beneath that notice. The notice at the top is the current fact.
Do this, in this order
- Drop the code hunt. No Figma page we read gives a new user anything for arriving through a link, and the affiliate program is closed to applicants. If a page offers you a Figma referral code, it cannot change what you pay.
- Start on Starter. The pricing page lists it as free with unlimited drafts, UI kits and templates, and 150 AI credits a day, up to 500 AI credits a month. For most people trying Figma, that is the whole decision.
- If you upgrade, treat the first payment as final. Professional shows $16 a month per full seat, $12 for a Dev seat and $3 for a Collab seat on the pricing page we read, with a Monthly and Annual toggle. Fees paid are non-refundable, quantities cannot be reduced mid-term, and “Any billing-related credits provided by Figma expire after 1 year”.
- Cancel from account settings before the term ends, not after. The Terms of Service let you give notice of cancellation through your Figma account settings, and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the then-current subscription term. Miss the date and the next term is charged.
- Export before any trial ends. The Product-Specific Terms, last updated March 11, 2026, say: “ANY DATA CUSTOMER ENTERS INTO THE FIGMA PLATFORM DURING A FREE TRIAL MAY BE PERMANENTLY LOST” unless you buy, upgrade or export first.
Where Figma's own pages disagree
A live terms page for a closed program. The Marketing Program Participant Terms at figma.com/affiliate-terms-and-conditions still read as a working program. The document is dated 9.14.2023. The program page linked from the footer of the pricing page says the pilot was sunset as of 8/16/2024. Figures still repeated on other sites match the first page, not the second.
Those old terms would have barred a site like ours anyway. Participants agreed not to “use any Affiliate Link on any coupon deal websites and/or coupon aggregator websites”, not to portray Figma in a disparaging manner, and not to bid on Figma brand terms in paid search.
What Figma does not publish. No end date for the current prices, and no refund exception beyond the words “unless otherwise specified”. The Terms of Service carry “Effective Date: March 11, 2026”. The brand page says you may use the Figma marks to identify Figma or its products so long as you are truthful, fair and not misleading, which is why this page can show its mark.
Is it worth your time?
Not as a bonus, because there is none. Judge Figma as a product: try Starter for free, and if you need Professional, pay for it knowing the money does not come back and the term runs to its end. The affiliate figures that still circulate describe a program Figma closed in 2024, and even while it ran, none of that money went to you.
If you are a creator hoping to earn from Figma referrals, the program page says applications are no longer accepted and gives an email address for questions. The separate Partner Program for service and integration companies offers a badge, not cash.
