Semrush Examined Jul 27, 2026 SEO and marketing toolkits No exclusive discount

There is no exclusive Semrush discount, and Semrush forbids pretending there is.

Think twiceabout any page waving a Semrush coupon at you. Semrush writes that it does not currently offer exclusive discounts for affiliates, and its own rules forbid partners from calling a free trial a coupon. The software may be exactly what your work needs. The code will not exist when you get there.

Nothingno discount code, no coupon, no exclusive deal, and nothing at all for you as a new Semrush customer, through our page or anybody else’s

Semrush's affiliate FAQ disqualifies a site like ours three separate times on a single page, then rules out the reader discount in a fourth sentence. Semrush will not have us, so we earn nothing here and carry no link.

From Semrush's own affiliate FAQ, under "Can I get an exclusive discount?": "Currently, we do not offer exclusive discounts for affiliates. However, you can promote Semrush's standard pricing and any ongoing promotions available to all customers." Then the rule governing everyone holding a Semrush link: "misrepresenting a free trial as a coupon or discount, and references to non-existing discounts, is prohibited."

What pays what

You, a new Semrush customer, through any link or code anywhere$0
An exclusive Semrush discount handed out by a publisherDoes not exist
A public Semrush promotion, when one is runningThe same for everyone
A newly accepted publisher, per sale, depending on the product$50 to $300
That same publisher at the top tier, on Semrush One$450
A publisher, per free trial your click turns into$10
This site, for writing this pageNothing

Semrush's affiliate hero advertises "from $100 to $300 for every sale, plus $10 for every free trial from your referrals". Its published product table, on the same page, contradicts both halves: the Social and Local toolkits pay $50 a sale, half the advertised floor, and the AI Visibility Toolkit carries a dash rather than $10 in the trial column.

  • The floor advertised at the top of the affiliate page, per sale$100
  • What the Social and Local toolkits pay, in the table underneath it$50

Both figures are Semrush’s, on one page. Neither is money for you: this is what an accepted publisher collects.

Why we carry no Semrush link, and why that helps you

Refused by category. Under the heading "We generally do not approve the following types of applications:", Semrush's published list includes, word for word, "Coupons, cashback, deals websites, or generator websites." A site that examines offers for a living sits inside that description.

Refused on traffic. "If you are a content creator, your website(s) should have a minimum of 1,000 unique visitors in monthly traffic; a social network page or channel should also have a significant number of organic followers/likes/views (typically at least 1,000)." A published floor, and a young site does not clear it.

Refused on age. "If your site is not yet live or has recently been launched, please consider applying later when your channels are fully functional and ready for evaluation."

What that tells you about the search results. Any site ranking for "Semrush coupon code" either cleared the traffic bar and does not present itself as a deals site, was refused and kept the page anyway, or holds a link and is dressing the public trial up as an exclusive code, the exact thing Semrush's rules prohibit.

Do this, in this order

  1. Close the coupon tabs. What an affiliate may promote is "Semrush's standard pricing and any ongoing promotions available to all customers".
  2. Learn the difference between a trial and a discount. A trial gives you time; a discount gives you money off.
  3. Look for a public promotion on semrush.com, not on a deals page. Anything real is priced the same for a visitor who arrived from nowhere.
  4. Treat "exclusive extended trial" claims as tier-gated and unproven. Semrush's loyalty table does carry a "Special Offer" row listing a 7-day trial, a 14-day trial, and a 14-day trial with a co-branded landing page. It publishes three values across four tier columns, so which tier gets which cannot be read off the live page.
  5. If you already have a Semrush account, no link can attach you to anything. Semrush's own troubleshooting says attribution happens at registration.
  6. Choose the toolkit before you look at the price. Semrush sells its capability in pieces, named on its own affiliate page as Semrush One, the SEO, AI Visibility, Content, Social, Local, Traffic and Market, and Advertising toolkits. Buying wider than the job is the expensive mistake here, and it repeats monthly.

Two invisible rules decide whether anyone is paid for you

The cookie banner is the switch. "For successful attribution, the user must be new and must follow your affiliate link and accept cookies when registering a Semrush account." Decline cookies, as a careful person often does, and the reviewer whose work sent you there is paid nothing.

A pre-existing account is permanent. "Attribution for referrals occurs at the stage of user registration. If the referred user already had a Semrush account registered, it would not be attributed to your account." Once you have registered, every future purchase you make is unattributable forever.

If you were thinking of promoting Semrush instead

This is the program that pays cash, and the reason so many Semrush coupon pages exist at all.

The advertised number is not the one you start on. The FAQ says you "can earn up to $450 per sale and $10 for each trial activation". Tiers run Basic at 0 to 4 sales per quarter, Silver at 5 to 19, Gold at 20 to 49, Platinum at 50 or more. Semrush One pays $300, $350, $400 and $450 across them. A new partner is Basic, which is the bottom figure in every column.

Getting accepted is its own project. Semrush advises signing up "using an email that matches your website's domain" and getting "your promotional properties verified on Impact", and states that "applications without any provided links to websites, blogs, or social media accounts will be declined." Review time is quoted two ways on one page, "within 4 days" and "about two working days".

The cookie is generous; the attribution is not. "The program offers last-click attribution and 120 days of cookie life." The dashboard lags reality: "there is a 2+ hour delay from the completion of an action to when it appears on your account dashboard."

Money moves slowly. The program runs on Impact.com and pays by "Electronic Funds Transfer or PayPal". "Transaction locking happens 27 days after the end of the month, and transactions are paid after 21 days after the end of the month they've been locked." On a sale made early in a month, that is roughly seven weeks to cash at best.

The conduct rules are strict and specific. "Self-referrals and commission sharing are strictly prohibited." Paid search campaigns "must be pre-approved by the Semrush Affiliate team", with no bidding on branded keywords or any misspelling of them. The link must be used "exactly as it's provided in Impact, including any parameters or variables", and disclosure is mandatory under Federal Trade Commission guidelines.

The binding contract is not public. Semrush says its Affiliate Terms and Conditions "can be found on the sign-up page", visible only "after clicking on the 'Join now' button". The obvious public URL for it returns a 404, so geographic or US-state exclusions, minimum payout, currency, caps and tax handling cannot be answered from anything Semrush publishes openly. We will not invent them.

And the logo is not yours to use. The brand policy opens with "No use without permission. You may not use Semrush Marks unless specifically permitted under this Policy, or pursuant to Semrush's written consent". That is why this page shows the Semrush name as plain text and no Semrush logo anywhere.

Is it worth your time?

Hunting a Semrush coupon is not worth another minute. What is worth your time is the half hour it takes to work out which toolkit your work actually needs. Take the public trial when one is running, use it hard, and buy on the merits. As for Semrush itself, a company that publishes its screening list, its commission table and its refusal to discount is being more candid than most, and we would say so even if it had let us in.
