Revolut Examined Jul 27, 2026 Referrer only Amount never published

Revolut's US referral pays one person, and it is not the new customer.

Think twiceif you came here for a signup bonus, because Revolut's own terms say the person being invited cannot be paid one. We had a figure on this page and it was wrong, so it is gone. Open a Revolut account if you want a Revolut account.
Nothing to the new customerA lottery for the referrerInvite-only, capped at 5Examined Jul 27
Nothingfor you, the person clicking the link, no matter how many of the required steps you complete

The governing document is Revolut's US Referrals Terms, last updated 16 June 2025, thirteen months ago, and the relevant line is not ambiguous. Signing up through a friend's invite can still be a perfectly friendly thing to do. It is just not a bonus.

Quoted from Revolut

“The Promotion is a one-sided campaign, where only the Revolut customer who was invited to refer a friend (not the Invitee) can be awarded any Reward/s.”
Revolut US Referrals Terms read 27 July 2026
Invitee is Revolut’s word for you. You do the sign-up, the top-up, the card order and the spending; the person who invited you collects.
We got this wrong, and here is the correction. Until today this site listed Revolut at roughly $10 to $30 for the person signing up. We re-read Revolut's own pages on 27 July 2026 and could not find that range anywhere, in any currency, and the terms say the person signing up cannot be paid at all. The figure has been removed from the listing and from this page.

Revolut's reward multiplier page lists exactly two countries, Brazil and Mexico, and then says: "If your Invitee's country of residence is not listed below, you will receive the reward per the In-app Referral Invite page." Anyone quoting you a US dollar figure, us included until today, is quoting something Revolut has not printed.

The four things that decide how this goes

1. Not everyone is allowed to refer, so the whole exercise can pay nobody. Revolut hands the ability out itself: "Anyone who has received an invitation to the Promotion directly from us on a tile in the home screen of the Revolut app (an 'In-app Referral Invite') is eligible to refer someone." A link someone generated without that tile is not in the program.

2. You may have to pay, out of pocket, to unlock a reward somebody else receives. One of the steps is to "Order a physical card (this may be subject to a delivery fee and/or a fee for the card itself)". The one person in this transaction who is spending money is the one who cannot be paid.

3. Change your mind inside two weeks and the reward is pulled back. The reward does not survive "if they close their Revolut Personal account within 14 days of opening it". If you are doing this as a favour, finishing the fortnight is part of the favour.

4. Their side is capped, and the amount is a draw rather than a rate. There is "a maximum of 5 successful referrals within each campaign period". On the amount, Revolut's own help centre is candid: "Our referral campaigns include a random rewards option, similar to a lottery, where you can receive one of five designated amounts for each successful referral. The higher the amount, the less likely it is to be awarded."

Do this, in this order

  1. Decide whether you want the account, because that is the only thing on offer for you. If you were going to open a Revolut account anyway, using a friend's invite costs you nothing and does them a favour. If the reward was the point, stop here.
  2. Check that the person referring you was actually invited by Revolut. The in-app tile is the whole gate.
  3. Add money, and do not overthink the amount. On the top-up, Revolut says plainly that "there is no minimum required amount".
  4. Order the physical card knowing it may not be free. The delivery fee and the card fee are both possible, and both land on you.
  5. Spend on it, and not on the categories that do not count. Card purchases to payment, gambling, gift card and currency exchange providers, and money transfers, do not count. The number of purchases and any minimum are set in the invite the other person is holding, so ask them; you cannot look it up.
  6. Leave the account open past the fourteenth day. Closing it earlier reverses the reward.

Is it worth your time?

As a favour to a friend, sure, and it is a real account with real features. As a bonus, no. Most referral programs on this site pay both sides something. Revolut's US program pays one side an amount it will not print and settles that amount by drawing lots, while asking the other side to top up, order a card that may cost money, and spend on it. If a signup bonus is what you are after, the offers below hand the money to you.
