Examined Sep 18, 2026 Renews every week No link we may carry

Hungryroot takes 30% off the plan cost of your first delivery, then renews every week and may fill and charge your cart if you miss the cut-off.

Worth it ifyou want a weekly grocery plan of $99 or more and will look at your cart before every cut-off. The discount is one delivery long: 30% of a $99 plan is $29.70. The subscription it starts is weekly, and doing nothing counts as ordering.

No code is needed. Hungryroot's help center says: “The 30% off discount will automatically apply to the first order with a plan size of $99 or more (discount applied to plan cost only).” The homepage values the free gift at up to $20 and says shipping is free over $70. A friend's code is a different deal: $50 off a first grocery delivery of $100 or more.

Doing nothing is an order. Hungryroot's help center says your order renews each week and your card is charged when your shopping window closes. The Terms of Use put the cut-off at 11:59 pm in the time zone of your delivery address on your Renewal Date, unless the Orders section of your account says otherwise. Leave the list alone past that point and the terms say Hungryroot may fill the order with recommended items and charge your payment method for the full amount. An order marked Processed cannot be canceled.

30% of $99 is $29.70, so at the minimum plan the $50 off from a friend's code wins. The 30% only passes $50 on a plan above about $167, because 30% of $167 is $50.10. Do not count on both: the terms say percentage or dollar off promotions may be combined with the free item offer, but not with other percentage or dollar off promotions.

Do this, in this order

  1. Choose one discount before you create the account. Hungryroot limits promotions to one redemption per account, per household, and its terms say promo codes cannot be applied to previously placed orders.
  2. Set the plan size yourself, and watch it. The terms say your plan charge is derived from the selections you make when you create the account. They also say: “If you regularly order more than your Plan, Hungryroot will adjust and recommend more personalized items for you, which may increase the number of Credits that you receive and the associated cost for that Plan.”
  3. Find your Renewal Date on day one. It is in your account's Plan Settings, and it is the last date on which you can skip or end the plan before being charged. The terms let you skip as often as you like. The help center covers skipping up to 3 weeks of deliveries and pausing for up to 8 weeks.
  4. If you change your mind before the first box, text them. The cancellation policy in the terms begins: “Once you receive your first delivery you may cancel your Plan at any time online in your Account page”. The cancellation help article has a separate line for newcomers: “New customer? Contact us via text at 855-222-5704 before your shopping window closes.” California residents, the terms say, may cancel at any time.
  5. Pause instead of canceling if you want to keep the free gift. Skipping and pausing leave it in place. Canceling ends it, and the terms say you are no longer eligible for it if you reactivate.
If you do not modify the groceries on your Hungryroot grocery list or skip your order prior to cut-off time on the Renewal Date, Hungryroot may automatically populate your order with recommended items based on your preferences, past orders, and available inventory, and your order will be processed and charged automatically.

The credits, the gift and the refund

You pay the whole plan, used or not. A plan buys Credits to spend on groceries. Unused ones roll over, but expire sixty (60) days after your last delivered order, and the terms say you are charged your entire plan price whether or not any are left over.

The free gift ignores your food profile. The help center warns that the gifts may contain allergens such as tree nuts, and that if you sign up with the free gift promo your food profile settings will not affect it. The terms give the free item no cash value and allow no substitutions.

Refunds are discretionary. The terms grant them on a case by case basis within thirty (30) days of the delivery date, and say they take ten (10) to fifteen (15) business days. Groceries cannot be returned.

What Hungryroot does not publish, and why this page has no code

An end date, a plan price and the shipping fee. No page we read prints an end date for the 30% offer. The homepage lists per-serving prices, such as $3.99 for breakfast and $8.99 for dinner, but no plan price; that comes out of the signup quiz. It says shipping is free over $70 and not what it costs below that.

The referral amount, in the contract. The $50 figure comes from a help article. The Terms of Use, which carry the line “Last updated August 2026” with no day, describe the reward only as a number of Credits determined by Hungryroot in its sole discretion, and reserve the right to modify or terminate the program at any time, without notice.

Why we print no code. The terms cover sites like this one: “Referral Codes should not be published or distributed on commercial websites (such as coupon websites, Reddit, Wikipedia, etc.), on blogs, or other websites created to take advantage of referral traffic generated from individuals searching for coupons or other discount codes, as determined by Hungryroot in its sole discretion.” Hungryroot may deactivate a code shared that way, so get one from a person you know.

Is it worth your time?

As a way to try a service you already wanted, yes: about $30 off a $99 first delivery, or $50 with a friend's code, plus a free item in each box for as long as you stay.

As a one-time bargain, be careful. One forgotten cut-off costs a full plan charge of $99 or more, which is more than three times the $29.70 the offer saved you at the minimum plan. If you sign up, write the Renewal Date down the same day.

If you later share your own code, the terms say: “Referral Rewards are not your property. Your Referral Rewards are forfeited upon the cancellation of your then-current Plan.” A friend who shares your email address, billing address or shipping information earns you nothing.
