Hilton Honors pays a new member nothing for joining and has no live referral page, but its dining program pays 2,000 points for one $50 meal eaten in and reviewed.
If you searched for a Hilton Honors referral, the page most sites still point to is gone: it now reads “That page isn't on our radar”. What Hilton does run is a new-member bonus on Hilton Honors Dining, a separate sign-up where you link a card and earn points at participating restaurants and bars. It is open to people who link a card from September 10, 2026 through January 5, 2027. “You may only earn this bonus once for a maximum amount of 2,000 Bonus Points.”
What pays what
| New dining member: one dine-in of $50 or more within 30 days, reviewed within 30 days of the visit | 2,000 Bonus Points, once |
|---|---|
| Every eligible $1 at participating restaurants, Basic dining status | 2 Bonus Points |
| Every eligible $1, Select dining status | 5 Bonus Points |
| Every eligible $1, VIP dining status | 8 Bonus Points |
| Hilton stays, per $1 of eligible spend | 10 Base Points at most brands; 5 at Homewood Suites, Home2 Suites, Spark, Tru, Apartment Collection and YOTEL |
| An order through a third-party ordering or delivery site | Nothing toward the bonus |
| Referring a friend | No live program found |
The page's own words: “For a limited time, join Hilton Honors Dining and earn 2,000 Bonus Points”, on top of the per-dollar points above. A $50 meal at Basic status earns 100 points on top, our arithmetic at 2 points per $1. “Bonus Hilton Honors Bonus Points do not count towards elite-tier qualification in the Hilton Honors program.”
Do this, in this order
- Join both programs. The bonus needs Hilton Honors membership and a Hilton Honors Dining account, and it is only for new dining members without a dining profile. Hilton Honors itself is open only to individuals of majority age in their state or country; companies and groups cannot enroll.
- Link the card you will actually pay with, before the meal. “Please note that all checks must be paid for with a credit or debit card linked with Hilton Honors Dining at the time of the visit.” The 30 days start when you create the dining web account, not when you join Hilton Honors.
- Spend $50 or more on one check, eating in. Tax and tip count toward the $50. Two $25 lunches do not. “Not valid on orders placed through third-party online ordering or delivery sites.”
- Review the restaurant within 30 days of the visit, and keep the emails. “Members must remain opted in to email to earn this bonus offer.” The offer also cannot be combined with other Hilton Honors Dining bonuses; one visit counts toward one bonus only.
- Put two dates in your calendar: eight weeks out, and 90 days out. Points take six to eight weeks to appear. “All account inquiries related to this bonus must be received within 90 days of the qualified dine associated with this bonus.”
What Hilton does not publish, and where its pages disagree
Takeout, or not. The summary at the top of the bonus page says to dine in or order takeout. The New Member Bonus details, which are the rules, say the $50 must be spent dining-in. We follow the details: eat in.
No referral program. The old refer-a-friend address on the dining site returns a not-found page, and the Hilton Honors Terms and Conditions, effective July 15, 2026, contain no referral clause. Posts elsewhere that describe a Hilton referral reward could not be matched to any live Hilton page.
Which restaurants, and which days. The bonus page does not list participating restaurants or their reward days; it points to a rewards calendar on the dining site. The Hilton Honors Dining Terms of Use, from the operator Rewards Network, explain why: a purchase “may qualify only up to a specified dollar amount, or only if made during certain time periods on specified days”, and each restaurant's page on the dining site holds its own rules. Pay with the card itself: “Please do not use a debit card PIN or a third-party payment app if you want a qualifying purchase to earn rewards.” A card earns in only one Rewards Network program; link it to another of their dining programs and it stops earning here. You must be at least 18 and a US resident. If a meal has not registered in your dining account within 10 days, the terms say to call Member Services. Disputes go to individual arbitration if either side asks.
Rules that can move. “Hilton Honors reserves the right to change the Hilton Honors Program rules, regulations, terms, travel awards and thresholds, and special offers, at any time, without notice.” Any tax on rewards is the member's own responsibility, the terms add.
Keeping the points once you have them
Failure to take action in (a), (b), (c) or (d) described above within a twenty-four (24) consecutive month period will be deemed to be inactive and forfeit all accumulated Points and Membership in the Program may be discontinued at Hilton Honors sole discretion.
The four actions are a stay, earning points from Hilton or a partner, buying points, or donating them. A dinner that earns dining points counts, so one meal every two years keeps the balance alive. Points cannot be sold: “The sale of Hilton Honors Points, Rewards or other benefits, other than by Hilton Honors is expressly prohibited.”
Is it worth your time?
For someone who eats out and already has, or wants, a Hilton Honors account, yes: link the card you use, pick a participating restaurant on a day it pays, spend $50 inside, and write two honest sentences about it afterwards. The 2,000 points arrive about two months later. The pages we read put no cash value on a point, and neither do we.
Do not book a dinner to chase it, and do not expect a referral reward for sending a friend. Members also get a discount “from 2% off the eligible rate” when booking Hilton stays, which is the benefit that matters more over time.
