The document opens by calling itself the Gopuff Influencer Program Rules and defines you, the person sending a code to a friend, as an "Influencer". That comes with a duty: "You must disclose to all Referees that you are receiving compensation for any referrals that you make." There is no split structure: "Influencers and Referees will receive one reward for each successful referral/new account activation", and "Only one referral credit can be used per order".

There is a minimum basket, and again no number: "Minimum order value may be required for both Influencer and Referee." The credit may carry its own expiry and geographic limits, which Gopuff says will be communicated to the new customer rather than written into the terms. Rewards are earned only for referrals in the United States.
Do this, in this order
- Ask your friend one question first: have they ever had Gopuff credit? A code cannot be applied if the new customer "already received Gopuff credit from Gopuff or another source on their customer account prior to entry of your Gopuff Code", or if they already applied someone else's code or a different promotion. A gift card, a service-recovery credit, a promotion they half remember: any of those and the code will not apply.
- Get the first order in within thirty days of the account being created. The referred customer "must make their first Gopuff purchase before the Referral Credit expires, but in no event later than thirty (30) days from the creation of their Gopuff account". Creating the account early and shopping later is how this one is usually lost.
- Keep the basket clean of regulated goods. "The code cannot be used for age-restricted or regulated items, such as e-cigarettes, vape products, or alcohol." Check what the discount is being applied against before you confirm.
- If you are the one referring, understand what you have signed up to. You must register with your name, email and phone number, be an active Gopuff customer, be a US resident over 18, and "disclose to all Referees that you are receiving compensation" for referrals. You may not post your code on sites or social pages you do not own, may not pay to advertise it on Google, Facebook, Twitter, Bing or Craigslist, and may not "specify the monetary amount of the referral code unless authorized by Gopuff in writing".
- Budget four weeks, not four days. "Each referral credit will be applied to your account within 4 weeks after your referee places his/her first order." No faster path is described in the rules.
- Read the terms knowing they carry no date. Gopuff's referral page shows no "Effective" or "Last Updated" label at all. Gopuff can change or discontinue the program at any time without notice, and can withhold or deduct rewards it believes were received in error. Rewards are capped at $3,000 per calendar year, and Pennsylvania law governs.
Is it worth your time?
If you are new to Gopuff, a friend's code costs you nothing, lands on your first order, and is worth taking as long as your basket is not mostly alcohol or vape products and you order inside the thirty days. If you are the one referring, four weeks to be paid, a duty to tell people you are being compensated and a ban on saying what it is worth make this a slow way to earn store credit. Convenience delivery is already the most expensive way to buy a bottle of soda; a credit you wait a month for does not change that arithmetic.
