Examined Oct 2, 2026 Paid on a Visa virtual card New members only

GoodRx pays $10 on a Visa virtual card for one prescription filled during the Gold free trial, then bills $14.99 a month under two refund rules that do not agree.

Worth it ifyou have a prescription to fill this month and will put day 30 in your calendar. The $10 is real, small, and spends only online or by phone. The membership that follows costs $14.99 a month, and whether a charge ever comes back depends on which GoodRx page you read and where you live.

$10on a GoodRx Visa Virtual Card, emailed to you, for using the membership card to buy one prescription at a participating pharmacy during the 30-day free trial

The card is not cash. The promotion terms say: “No cash access or recurring payments. Can be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted for online, or phone/mail orders.” It is one card per membership, so a second fill, or a family member on the same plan, earns nothing more. No one refers you: it rewards your own first fill, needs no link or code, and cannot be traded, sold or transferred.

Day 30 is the only clean exit. The cancellation FAQ says the trial can be canceled at any time, and that at its end Gold members are charged their first fee. The Companion Terms say: “If you do not wish to be charged for your Membership following the stated free trial term, then you must cancel before your free trial expires.” Once a charge posts, GoodRx's own pages stop agreeing about whether it comes back, so treat the fee as spent the moment it is billed.

Do this, in this order

  1. Check you are a new member. The terms say “Offer only valid for new members.” and define the phrase nowhere. If you have held a Gold or Companion membership before, do not count on the $10.
  2. Start the trial and wait for the card. GoodRx sells the plan as GoodRx Companion at goodrx.com/gold; the reward terms still call it GoodRx Gold. The membership card comes by email and by mail. Your membership starts the day you sign up and give a payment method, which matters for the refund clock below.
  3. Fill one prescription with the membership card inside the 30 days. It must be a participating pharmacy; the terms send you to goodrxgold.com for the list. The card is emailed to the address you signed up with, and no page says how soon.
  4. Spend the $10 within 6 months, and only where it works. Online, or phone and mail orders, wherever Visa debit is accepted. Not at a register, not for a subscription, and not as cash.
  5. Decide before day 30, and cancel a day early. The Companion Terms say: “To avoid charges associated with the next Membership Cycle, cancel at least one (1) day prior to your Membership Cycle renewal date.” GoodRx's how-to article puts the button under Account, then Gold Membership.

Where GoodRx's pages disagree about refunds

The FAQ's rule. The cancellation policy article says: “Annual plan subscribers must cancel within 2 weeks of an annual membership billing charge in order to be eligible to have the charge refunded to the card on file.” That promise names no state, runs from the day of the charge, and says nothing about monthly plans.

The contract's rule. The Companion Terms of Service, effective September 2, 2026, begin: “Except as provided below, membership fees are non-refundable.” The exception is a full refund for canceling within 30 days after initial enrollment, for residents of Texas, Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Tennessee, South Carolina, Indiana, Missouri, Colorado, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Mississippi, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Arkansas, Iowa, Utah, Nebraska, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Delaware, West Virginia, Montana, South Dakota, Rhode Island, Alaska, North Dakota and Vermont. That is 30 states by our count; California and New York are not among them. Then: “Following the applicable 30-day refund period, or if you reside outside the states listed above, membership fees are non-refundable.”

Why the two do not meet. The contract's window runs from enrollment, and a 30-day free trial runs first, so by the time an annual charge posts the 30 days are used up. The FAQ's window runs from the charge. Outside the 30 named states the contract offers no refund at all. Either way, money spent through the membership stays spent: “Amounts paid for medications, prescriptions, treatments, labs, and/or telehealth visits are not refundable.”

What GoodRx does not publish, and where it is not available

No end date, no definition, no delivery time. The promotion terms page shows no date at all. GoodRx’s help-center record logs the text as last edited December 12, 2025. The September 5, 2026 date in the same record marks a later update to the article entry, not a revision date shown to you. The terms give no closing date, do not say who counts as a new member, and do not say how long after the fill the email arrives. GoodRx reserves the right to change or end the program at any time without notice.

Not every state gets the whole product. The Companion Terms say: “GoodRx Companion is currently not available in Washington and discounted online provider visits are not available to Companion Members in Oklahoma at this time.” The Gold page adds that dental, vision, lab and imaging discounts are unavailable in Vermont.

A separate rewards program that is not this one. GoodRx Rewards gives points for the account holder's own coupon use, to U.S. residents aged at least 18. It has no shareable link and pays nothing for a family member's or a pet's prescriptions.

Is it worth your time?

If you have a prescription to fill in the next 30 days, yes. Start the trial, fill once with the card, spend the $10 online, and cancel on day 29 unless the membership has already saved you more than $14.99 a month. The Gold page lists 250+ medications as free to members, so check your own drug's price first.

Do not take the annual plan on the strength of a refund. Twelve months at $9.99 is $119.88 up front, and the contract refunds it only inside 30 days of enrollment and only in 30 states. In California or New York, the contract's answer is that the fee is non-refundable, whatever the FAQ says.
