Gemini pays $50 a side for $100 of real trading. The word doing the work is "traded".
That $50 figure is real, and it applies in the United States, Hong Kong and New Zealand. Across 28 European countries the same programme pays EUR 20, and Australia gets AUD 50.
What pays what
| New user in the US, Hong Kong or New Zealand who trades $100 in 30 days | $50 |
|---|---|
| The friend who referred them, same conditions | $50 |
| New user in any of the 28 listed European countries | EUR 20 |
| New user in Australia | AUD 50 |
| You, referring friends over your lifetime | $1,500 cap |
| Depositing $100 without trading it | $0 |
| Stablecoin-to-stablecoin trades, tokenized stocks | Do not count |
| An account that is not identity-verified | $0 |
| Anyone who has ever had a Gemini account | $0 |
| The old Icon and Legend revenue-share tiers | Discontinued |
Gemini used to run tiers called Icon and Legend that paid a share of the referred user's trading fees, quoted around the web as 15% and 25%. Both are discontinued, and the terms state that no new referrals may qualify for them. Only the base tier, Recruit, is live. Any page still advertising a Gemini revenue share is out of date.
If you have seen a smaller number, here is where it came from
A $15 figure is circulating for this offer. On 27 July 2026 we traced it to Gemini's own website.
- What the terms dated 20 January 2026 set for the US, Hong Kong and New Zealand$50
- The older line still sitting in the referrals page data$15
Nobody sees the $15 in a browser. Tools that read the page source do, which is how it keeps getting copied.
Gemini's referrals page contradicts itself. The page you see reads "$50 for you. $50 for your friends." The data the page ships with, underneath, still carries an older line: "Join Gemini with your friend's promo code and you'll both receive $15 of the crypto of your choice after you trade $100", alongside a heading reading "Refer friends and get $15 in crypto". Nobody sees that text in a browser. Tools that read the page source do, and so the stale $15 keeps getting copied into guides and forum posts.
The dated document is the one to trust. Gemini's referral rewards terms, printed 20 January 2026, set the current offer from 24 November 2025 at USD 50 a side for the United States, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
Two more numbers you may meet, both expired. The terms keep their own history in view. Windows running from February 2025 and from April 2025 advertised "Up to $75", and a window from March 2025 paid $50. Gemini has changed this figure four times in eighteen months, so a Gemini amount quoted without a date is worth nothing. Check the app before you fund anything.
Do this, in this order
- Check that Gemini will actually have you. Gemini says referrals are available in limited jurisdictions at its sole discretion, and publishes no list of eligible countries or US states. The only test is to open the referral screen in your own account and see whether the programme appears.
- Sign up through a referral link, as a genuinely new user. Rewards go only to people who have not previously signed up for a Gemini Exchange account. Joint accounts, multi-user accounts and institutional accounts are excluded outright.
- Verify your identity before anything else. Upload the ID and finish the check. Unverified accounts are not eligible.
- Trade at least $100 inside 30 days of sign-up. The clock runs from sign-up, not from verification, so slow ID checks eat into your window. The trade itself costs a fee, so budget slightly more than $100 of funding.
- Then wait, and leave the account alone. Payment comes 32 days after sign-up. Both accounts, yours and your friend's, must be open, active and in good standing at that moment.
- If you plan to refer people, count to thirty. The lifetime payout cap is $1,500. At the US rate of $50 that is thirty successful referrals; at the European EUR 20 rate it is seventy-five. The cap applies to everyone, including influencers.
The fine print that can still cost you
There is no published eligibility list. "Limited jurisdictions at Gemini's sole discretion" is the whole disclosure. You cannot confirm in advance that your state or country qualifies, and Gemini can modify the list whenever it likes.
Good standing is judged on day 32, not on the day you trade. Accounts that are closed, suspended, restricted or otherwise out of compliance at payout are not eligible.
They can delay, withhold, deny or revoke. The terms give Gemini sole discretion to do any of those, and to disqualify users without notice. Self-referrals, duplicate accounts and anything Gemini reads as manipulating the programme are the named triggers.
The rules can change while you are inside the window. Amendments take effect immediately on posting to Gemini's website. There is no grandfathering clause for a referral already in flight.
Above $600 it becomes paperwork. Gemini notes that US users earning over $600 in bonuses and promotions may receive a Form 1099-MISC. Gemini does not give tax advice and neither do we.
What form the reward takes is slightly fuzzy. Gemini's referral page advertises "$50 in crypto", but the current Recruit table does not restate the form. Expect crypto, and confirm in the app.
Read the terms at the right address. The live document is at gemini.com/legal/gemini-referral-rewards-program-terms, and the button below goes there. The shorter gemini.com/legal/referral-terms answers normally and shows no terms at all.
Is it worth your time?
If you are in the United States and Gemini serves your state, yes, comfortably. Fifty dollars for opening an account, verifying it and making one hundred dollars of real trades is a better return on twenty minutes than most of this category manages, and nothing here says you must hold the crypto or keep a balance, only that the account stays open and in good standing to day 32. In Europe the same work pays EUR 20. The eligibility question has no workaround; open the referral screen first and let the app tell you.
