Examined Oct 2, 2026 Paid in points, not cash $95 annual fee

Chase pays 75,000 points for $5,000 of purchases in the first 3 months, charges $95 a year, and can take back its $100 hotel credit if you close the card within 90 days of getting it.

Worth it ifyou can put $5,000 of ordinary purchases on one card in three months without buying things to get there, and you want a $95-a-year travel card once the bonus has posted. The bar is high, the fee lands either way, and Chase weighs your card history before paying.

75,000 pointsposted 6 to 8 weeks after your purchases reach $5,000, if the account is open and not in default when Chase pays

Chase's page says you can use the points for cash, gift cards, travel, and pay with points, and that redemption values for reward options vary. It publishes no value per point, so neither do we. This is the public offer on Chase's own page; no invitation and no referral link is needed. The same page advertises the Sapphire Reserve's 100,000 points for $6,000 of spending directly beneath it. That is a different card, not this offer.

Chase decides your eligibility from your card history, after you have spent. Hold a Sapphire Preferred now and you cannot apply. Ever held one, or ever took its bonus, and the bonus may not be available to you; Chase may also consider the number of cards you have opened and closed. The pricing document goes further: a cardmember who has or has had a Chase card in the same Rewards Program may not be eligible for a second one. Spending $5,000 settles none of this; Chase does, at fulfillment.

Do this, in this order

  1. Check the eligibility lines before you spend anything. Card open now: no card. Held it before, or took its bonus: the bonus may not be available. Many cards opened and closed: Chase may weigh that. A Chase card in the same Rewards Program: possibly no second one.
  2. Apply through the page you read the offer on. The offer details say: “Offers may vary depending on where you apply, for example online or in a branch, and can change over time.” You must be at least 18, or 19 in Alabama and Nebraska and 21 in Puerto Rico, with a permanent US home or military address. Chase may give you a card with different costs, or no card.
  3. Make $5,000 in purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. The offer details say: “To qualify, you must make $5,000 in purchases during the first 3 months from account opening. After qualifying, please allow 6 to 8 weeks for bonus to post to your account.” Balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions, betting, person-to-person transfers, account funding, interest and fees of any kind, the $95 annual fee included, are not purchases.
  4. Keep the account open and in good order until the points post. The account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. Once the points are yours: “Your points don’t expire as long as your account remains open, however, you will immediately lose all your points if your account status changes, or your account is closed for program misuse, fraudulent activities, or other reasons described in the terms of the Rewards Program Agreement.”
  5. Price the fee and the rates before you carry a balance. The pricing document lists a $95 annual membership fee and does not mention a first-year waiver. The purchase APR is 19.49% to 27.74% variable, cash advances 28.74%, and a penalty APR of up to 29.99% that, once applied, could remain in effect indefinitely. Late and returned payments cost up to $40 each. There are no foreign transaction fees.

The $100 hotel credit and its 90-day clawback

How it pays. A statement credit applies automatically when the card is used for hotel accommodation purchases through Chase Travel, up to $100 per account year, counted from your account open date. The first $100 of Chase Travel hotel purchases each year earns no points. Credits should post within 3 business days but may take up to 4 weeks.

How it comes back. “We may reverse statement credits if an eligible purchase is returned, canceled, or modified or if you close your account within 90 days of receiving a statement credit.” So a $100 credit taken in month eleven, followed by closing the card at the anniversary to avoid the second $95, can be reversed. Wait out the 90 days before you close.

What Chase's pages do not say, and where they are out of date

A value for the points, or an end date. The offer carries no expiration date, and the page publishes no fixed value per point. Chase says the offer is subject to change.

The costs are dated September 22, 2026. The Pricing and Terms document served with the live offer says: “The information about the costs of the card described in this form is accurate as of 9/22/2026.” The next sentence says that information may have changed since, and Chase reserves the right to change the account terms, including the APRs.

If you later refer friends yourself. Chase's public refer-a-friend page says: “You can get 15,000 bonus points for each friend who gets either Chase Sapphire ® Credit Card.” The cap is 100,000 points a year, only a Sapphire cardholder can refer, and the detailed terms sit behind a Chase sign-in, so we could not read them. The offer on this page needs no link.

Read the Pricing and TermsThe fee, APRs and second-card rules, dated 9/22/2026. Points rules are in the Rewards Program Agreement; referrals on the refer-a-friend page.

Is it worth your time?

If $5,000 of purchases in three months is money you were going to spend anyway, on things that count, this is a large bonus for a $95 fee, and the card keeps earning 3 points per dollar on dining, gas and streaming afterwards. Do the eligibility check honestly first, because Chase applies it after you have spent, and use the hotel credit early enough that the 90-day window closes before any decision about the second year's fee.

If you would have to manufacture the spending, or carry a balance at 19.49% or more to reach it, the bonus is not worth what it costs. If you hold a Sapphire Preferred now, this offer is closed to you.
