ZenLedger Examined Jul 27, 2026 Crypto tax software Referrer only

ZenLedger's referral pays the person sharing the link. You get nothing.

Think twiceand read that as a verdict on the referral alone, not on the software. We read the full affiliate terms and the partner page and neither names a single benefit for the customer who clicks. If you arrived here hunting a ZenLedger code, the honest answer is that the published program does not have one for you.
$0 for the new user20% to the referrerTerms dated March 2023Examined Jul 24
$0for you, the new customer. No discount, no credit, no bonus appears anywhere in ZenLedger's affiliate terms or on its partner page

There is exactly one mention of a customer-facing discount in the whole document, and it is conditional on a private arrangement: if a particular affiliate has negotiated the use of a custom coupon for their customers, ZenLedger and that affiliate split the cost of it. Unless the specific person whose link you followed has that arrangement, there is nothing waiting for you at checkout. There is no consumer refer-a-friend page either: zenledger.io/refer returns a 404.

  • The affiliate whose link you used, on your subscription20% of what you pay
  • You, the new customer$0

Both sides of the same program, from ZenLedger's affiliate program terms, read July 24, 2026.

These terms have not been touched in three and a half years. ZenLedger's affiliate program terms carry the date "Last Updated: 3.2.23". The payout table on its partner page is dated 2023 and lists plan names ZenLedger no longer uses, and a second live copy of that same page shows a different set of names and one different figure. We are not reproducing that table. Treat every number in it as unconfirmed.

What pays what

You, the new customer, in the published terms$0
You, if your specific affiliate negotiated a custom couponWhatever they arranged
The affiliate whose link you used, on your subscription20% of what you pay
The affiliate, on customer support or professional services you buyNothing
The affiliate, if you cancel within 90 daysRepays your full refund
A "ZenLedger refer a friend" pageDoes not exist

That services exclusion is larger than it looks. Commission is not earned on customer support, professional services or non-subscription services, and ZenLedger's prepared-by-a-professional plans and filing help are a meaningful share of what it sells. An affiliate is paid on the software and not on the service, which quietly shapes what they will recommend to you.

Do this, in this order

  1. Stop hunting for a ZenLedger code. The published program has nothing for the buyer, and any site promising you a ZenLedger referral discount is either describing a privately negotiated coupon that is not yours or making it up.
  2. Judge the software on the software. A crypto tax tool has one job: read your trading history and produce correct numbers, meaning your cost basis, which is what you paid for a coin including fees, and your capital gains, which is the difference between that and what you sold it for. Whether ZenLedger supports the exchanges and wallets you actually used matters enormously.
  3. Pick the tier by transaction count, not by tier name. The only public payout table is three years stale and names plans that have since changed. Read the current pricing page on the day you buy and ignore every third-party chart, including the ones that look official.
  4. Notice which parts of the product an affiliate is not paid on. If a review pushes you hard toward a subscription and away from the professional service, remember that commission is only earned on the former. Read a second opinion.
  5. If you might cancel, know what you are triggering for someone else. Cancel inside 90 days and you get a full refund, and the affiliate who referred you is required to pay ZenLedger back. Take the refund if you need it; you are entitled to it. Just know the clause exists.
  6. Check the terms' date yourself before relying on any of this. Ours were read on July 24, 2026 against a document ZenLedger last updated on March 2, 2023.

The clause worth reading twice

Most affiliate agreements claw back the commission when a customer refunds. ZenLedger's is drafted differently, and almost certainly by accident.

Quoted from ZenLedger

“must return an amount equal to the Return Amount to ZenLedger”
Affiliate program terms read July 24, 2026
If a referred customer cancels within 90 days of purchase, that customer receives a full refund, which the terms call the Return Amount.

What it says. Read literally, the affiliate hands back the customer's entire refund, not the 20% slice they were paid on it. Repayment is due within 30 days of being notified, and ZenLedger may instead offset it against future commissions.

What it probably means. Almost certainly sloppy drafting rather than intent; a company that meant to charge affiliates five times their commission would be shouting about it. But this is a live legal document, and what it says is what it says. Three and a half years without an edit is how a sentence like that survives, and it tells you how carefully the program is maintained.

The rest of the referrer's side, briefly

Twenty percent of what the referred customer actually pays, tracked on a last-click basis, which means the most recent affiliate link the customer used takes the commission. Payments run through PayPal roughly every 60 days, and no later than 60 days after ZenLedger receives the customer's payment. There is no cap on the number of referrals, unpaid commission lapses unless claimed in writing within three months of the end of the calendar year, paid advertising of any kind is banned, and agreements run a year and renew automatically.

Is it worth your time?

As a referral offer, no: a program that pays one side and names no benefit for the other is not an offer, it is advertising. The software may still be right for you, and if it is, buy it at the normal price and choose the tier that matches your transaction count. If what you actually wanted was a discount on crypto tax software, two of ZenLedger's competitors publish a real one for the buyer and apply it automatically.
