All offers / Crypto / Koinly
Koinly does not publish the size of its discount, so no honest page can quote you one.
Before you hunt for a code at all, look at the free plan. Koinly's free tier needs no code, no link and no discount. If your transaction count fits inside it, the right move is to use it and stop shopping, because no referral link improves on free. A code only matters once you have to buy a paid tax plan, and even then the tier you choose moves far more money than any discount applied to it.
What pays what
| You, if your transaction count fits the free plan | Nothing to claim, and nothing to pay |
|---|---|
| You, new user on a paid plan, via someone's link | A discount, size unpublished |
The blank in the second row is not our blank. It is Koinly's.
Do this, in this order
- Check the free plan first. Koinly's free tier needs no code and no link. Count your transactions for the tax year before anything else; if they fit the free plan you are finished.
- If you do need to pay, pick the plan tier before you pick a link. Koinly sells its tax plans by size, from Newbie up through Hodler and Trader to Pro. Getting your transaction count right is worth more than any discount applied on top of it.
- Click your friend's link before you create the account. Koinly's help pages said to sign up after clicking the link, that clicking one with an existing account does nothing, and that referral links need cookies enabled with no promo-code box to fall back on. We read that on July 24 through the tool we no longer trust, so treat it as the safe order of operations, not a verified rule. Clicking first costs you nothing either way.
- Watch the total at checkout, because that is where the number lives. Koinly sets the discount per affiliate and shows it inside the affiliate panel. If the total did not move, the link did not work.
- Do not switch programmes on a whim. The affiliate terms say: "Any credits you may have earned on other referral programs like the 'Refer-a-friend' program will be lost when you do this. It is not possible to transfer credits or referrals over." If you have a balance sitting in refer-a-friend, spend it before you go anywhere near the affiliate sign-up.
If you refer people yourself later
That is Koinly's separate Affiliate Program, not this page's referral link. It is built for creators with a following, not casual sharing, and it pays a commission capped at the total amount paid by the customer or $200 USD, whichever is lower, on the tax plans only, with promo-code discounts excluded from the calculation. A payout needs commissions from three unique customers and a balance of at least $100 USD, sits locked for 30 days before it can be requested, and can take up to 60 days to process once you do. If Koinly ends the agreement, unpaid commissions are forfeited. Read the terms before you count on it.
Is it worth your time?
If your transaction count fits Koinly's free plan, there is no code to find and nothing here to claim, so go and count your transactions instead. If you do have to pay and someone you know has a link, click it first. It takes ten seconds and there is no downside. But do not go looking for the number, because it does not exist in public, and any site quoting you a specific Koinly discount is quoting something it cannot have read. The decision that actually costs or saves you money is the plan tier, and whether Koinly reads your exchange history properly. Spend your attention there.
