Robinhood Examined Jul 27, 2026 Read from the live terms 60-day claim window

You did the steps and no stock arrived. Here is why.

Linking a bank is the trigger60 days to claim9 documented causesExamined Jul 27
No bank linked is the single biggest reason. The reward triggers when you link a bank or debit card, not when you sign up.

Second most common: issued and sitting unclaimed. Both are fixable today.

Which cause caught you

1. No bank or debit card linkedFixable today
2. Issued, sitting unclaimedFixable today
3. Claimed, hasn't landed yetWait a week
4. Past the 60-day claim windowHard loss
5. Not your first taxable brokerage accountHard loss
6. Account not approved or not in good standingSometimes fixable
7. Friend didn't sign up through your linkHard loss
8. You hit the $5,000 annual referral capWorking as designed
9. Outside the eligible group from the startNever eligible

The nine causes, in Robinhood's own words

Fixable today 1. No bank or debit card is linked

Opening the account was never the qualifying act. The reward arrives “as soon as your friend signs up, gets approved, and links their bank or debit card”, and blunter elsewhere: “Make sure to link your bank account or debit card in order to earn your gift stock.” No deposit, no trade required.

Fixable today 2. It was issued and is sitting unclaimed

Robinhood sends a notification, then waits. Check Earn stock in the app, Rewards on the web, and Messages under Robinhood Rewards, its own two articles disagree on which. Update the app first.

Not a problem, wait 3. You claimed it and it hasn't landed yet

Credited “within approximately one week after the reward is claimed, though this timeline may be delayed in Robinhood’s sole discretion.” A ticket on day two won't speed it up.

Hard loss, no fix 4. The 60-day claim window closed

Stated twice: “You have 60 days to claim your gift stock before it expires”, and “Rewards that aren’t claimed within 60 days will expire.” No extension, anywhere.

Hard loss, no fix 5. It isn't your first individual taxable brokerage account

Eligibility covers “New customers of Robinhood who have never previously had a Robinhood individual taxable brokerage account”. A retirement or joint account isn't it, and an account you closed years ago still counts.

Sometimes fixable 6. The account isn't approved, or isn't in good standing

Must be “approved for a Robinhood individual taxable brokerage account” and “in good standing.” An application stuck in review has nothing for the reward to attach to yet, and Robinhood never defines “good standing” anywhere in the document.

Hard loss, no fix 7. Your friend didn't sign up through your link

“Unfortunately, we aren’t able to credit any reward stock to those who didn’t sign up using the referral link.” Check Past Invites on the referrals page. Not listed means they used something else. Support won't fill in the rest: “We can’t directly provide information about someone else’s account or application status.”

Working as designed 8. You've hit the annual ceiling

“You’ll stop receiving gift stock after you meet your $5,000 limit. However, your friends in the US will still receive a stock if they sign up with your invite link and satisfy the conditions of the promotion.”

Never eligible 9. You were outside the eligible group from the start

The offer “is available to US residents only”, excluding Robinhood employees, their households, and anyone employed by a securities regulator, exchange, market maker or broker-dealer. The check: go to your rewards page, and “if you see the correlated promotional screen, you’re eligible.”

The two timelines that decide whether you have anything to chase

Within 60 days of issue Claim it, or the reward expires. No appeal.
~1 week after you claim Reward stock is credited. Can be delayed at Robinhood’s discretion.
3 trading days after granted Shares can be sold.
30 days after claimed The cash value can be withdrawn.

From Robinhood's own support articles and offer terms, read live July 27, 2026. Not being able to sell or withdraw yet isn't the same as the stock being missing.

When the honest answer is that Robinhood decided

Three clauses hand Robinhood the final word, and none requires it to say which one it used.

  • Fraud or violation. Robinhood may “decline to grant the whole or fractional share stock reward, or to rescind or liquidate the stock or any related dollar proceeds” on suspicion alone. It reaches backward, even after you've sold.
  • Content connected to your referral link. Robinhood can decline or rescind a reward if it decides images or speech tied to your link are “inaccurate, misleading, offensive, or violates community standards”.
  • Enrolment and termination. “Robinhood may decline requests to enroll in the offer without notice and at its sole discretion”, and may terminate the offer at any time without notice.

Where one applies, there's no argument to win.

Robinhood's own two pages disagree about the cap. The referral article says “may not exceed $5,000 per person, per year”. The open-an-account article says “may not exceed $1,500 per person, per year”. Both read live July 27, 2026, neither dated. Quote the article you actually signed up through.

Get a real answer, not a template

Support can fix a fact. It can't bend a rule, and it won't discuss another person's account.

  1. Send facts, in one message: the date you opened the account, the date you linked a bank or debit card, and a screenshot of Earn stock or Rewards showing nothing claimable.
  2. If you're the referrer, add a screenshot of Past Invites showing your friend listed.
  3. Ask a specific question, not an open one. “Was a reward ever issued on this account, and on what date?” is answerable. “Where is my free stock?” gets a template.
