Canva Examined Jul 27, 2026 Terms effective 20 Jul 2026 No refund of fees already paid

How to cancel Canva, and exactly what you do and do not get back.

$0 back on fees already paidEnd of cycle, not todayTrials charge unless cancelled firstExamined Jul 27
$0 back You can cancel any time in account settings. It takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

"you will not be entitled to a refund of any fees already paid (except where required by law)": section 9(d) of the Terms of Use, effective 20 July 2026. So if you are leaving by choice, the only lever you still hold is the date your next charge lands.

The deadline that actually matters

Any time Cancel via account settings. The only route the terms describe: no phone call, form or waiting period.
End of your current billing cycle Cancellation takes effect here, not on the day you click. Paid features stay on until then.
End of a free trial Converts automatically to a paid subscription unless you cancelled first. Full subscription fee charged to your card

As stated in Canva's Terms of Use, section 9, effective 20 July 2026, read 27 July 2026.

Do this, in this order

  1. Find your renewal date first. Canva notifies you before auto-renewal, that's the only warning promised. Cancel the day before and you save a full cycle; the day after, the charge has already landed.
  2. Cancel Add-Ons separately. "Your subscription and/or Add-Ons" appears every time in the clause, drafting for two switches, not one.
  3. Export your designs before the subscription ends. You "can download or export your User Content and Designs using the functionality of the Service prior to the expiration or termination of your subscription." After that, "you will lose access to your Designs, User Content, and any other information uploaded to the Service".
  4. If a price rise prompted this, the timing favours you. An increase "will not apply until your next renewal or thirty (30) days after notice, whichever is later", and you may cancel if you don't want to pay it.

Most people here are cancelling a trial that converted while they weren't looking: "At the end of your free trial, Canva will charge the relevant subscription fee for the next billing cycle to your nominated payment method, unless you cancel your subscription prior to the end of the free trial." No fixed day count is published.

What each exit actually costs

You cancelNo refund of fees already paid
Canva terminates you for a ViolationNo refund, and outstanding fees due
You terminate for cause because Canva defaultedPrepaid fees refunded pro rata
You remove paid-for seats from a TeamNo refund or credit
You change your mind on a print orderNo refund

On a Violation: "you will not receive any refund and will immediately pay any outstanding fees for the remaining period of your subscription." On Canva's own default, the mirror image: "Canva will refund, on a prorated basis, any prepaid fees." The only pro rata refund in the document.

Teams: removing a seat gets you nothing back

Seats bill on the next Billing Date (monthly renewal, or every three months on annual) unless removed first: "You will not receive a refund or credit for removing seats from your Team that have already been paid for." Canva emails the billing contact three days beforehand.
What downgrading does to Pro elements isn't in the Terms of Use. "Downgrade" doesn't appear in the document; Licensed Content questions route to a separate Content License Agreement, which we have not read. Export finished files first. The terms also say nothing about app-store subscriptions.

Is it worth your time?

Unusually clean, as these go: self-service, no retention maze, no fee for leaving an annual plan early. What it doesn't do is give anything back. Put your renewal date in a calendar and this page never has to be useful to you again.
