Hims & Hers Examined Jul 27, 2026 Telehealth subscription No link we may carry

Hims & Hers pays a real referral reward and refuses to tell anyone how big it is.

Worth it ifyou already pay Hims or Hers for something, you have one real friend about to spend $99 or more, and you accept that on a prescription plan the discount lands on the service fee rather than the medicine. The reward is real. Its size is disclosed only after you have committed.
Unpublished reward amount30 days from sharing, not receivingPlatform fees only on prescriptionsExamined Jul 25
Unpublishedis the honest figure for both sides of the Hers Refer-A-Friend reward. The terms describe it twice, in the same three words, and attach a number to it nowhere

Go looking for the figure in the promotion terms and you come back holding a phrase instead. Hims & Hers calls the friend’s reward "the specified discount" and calls your reward "the specified discount", and that phrase is the only quantification in the document. What the terms do spell out, at length, is how the reward shrinks and how it disappears.

The quietest line in the whole document. "When Rewards are used for orders for subscription(s) for prescription treatment(s), the Reward will only apply to platform fees." A platform fee is the service charge added on top of what the medication itself costs.

One clarification: the refer-a-friend rules published on hims.com are the Hers Refer-A-Friend Program, and they turn on friends who "order Hers products on hims.com or forhers.com" with a qualifying order placed on "a Hers Website". The promotions page publishes no separate set for the Hims side.

The number Hims & Hers will not print

The phrase, in full. The friend "can receive the specified discount off their first eligible order for a product or subscription on a Hers Website of $99 or more". Your own side reads the same way: "Referrer shall receive the specified discount off their next order on a Hers Website." Nothing on that page ever specifies the specified discount.

You have to buy before you can see it. "Referrer's personalized Referral Link can be found in the order confirmation email Referrer received following their purchase."

It is not documented where a customer would look, either. We read all 117 articles in the Hims help centre. Not one mentions a referral, a refer-a-friend program, a coupon, or a platform fee. A figure the company itself withholds is one nobody outside it can verify, so treat every third-party number for this brand as invented.

Do this, in this order

  1. Accept that the link arrives after the purchase, never before. It comes in the order confirmation email following a purchase you have already made. There is no public link; the only route is a link from someone you personally know who already pays them.
  2. Send it to one real person, privately, and never buy attention for it. A referrer "may not post or promote their Referral Link on Hers' social media pages, commercial websites or blogs, or on coupon sites", and "the sharing of their Referral Link outside of Referrer's warm network of personal connections is strictly prohibited". Referrers are also "prohibited from paying to advertise their Referral Link".
  3. Send it on the day your friend intends to order. "Friend's Reward shall expire within thirty (30) days of Referrer sharing the Referral Link and cannot be applied to an existing Hers subscription." Thirty days from your sending, not their opening.
  4. Check the order clears $99 and is not on the exclusion list. The friend’s discount attaches to a first eligible order "of $99 or more", and a qualifying purchase "excludes Labs by Hims & Hers and all subscriptions that include Wegovy®".
  5. Do not refer anyone in your own household. Referrers "cannot refer themselves or someone else in their household", and purchases by friends who share the referrer’s "email address, Internet Protocol address, billing address or shipping information will not qualify". Internet Protocol address means your Wi-Fi.
  6. Spend the reward early, and keep the account open until you have. Rewards "shall expire within one (1) year of issuance", you may earn no more than ten per calendar year, and only one per friend "regardless of the number of purchases that such Friend makes". And "if an account is closed for any reason, all associated Rewards will be cancelled immediately".

Cancelling the medicine is not cancelling the membership

This is the part that can cost more than the referral will ever return.

Two subscriptions, one product, and cancelling them is not symmetrical. On the weight loss side there is a Weight Loss Membership and a separate Medication Plan. "Cancelling your Medication Plan does not automatically cancel your Weight Loss Membership, which will continue to renew monthly until you cancel". The other direction: "Cancelling your Weight Loss Membership also cancels your Medication Plan", and that is "deemed to be your direction to the Pharmacy to cancel your weight loss prescription".

The deadline is two days, and the charge can land early. A subscription "will automatically renew for another subscription period unless you cancel at least two (2) days before the applicable renewal processing date", and "we do not offer refunds for partially used subscription periods". Charges can also run early: "your first renewal may be charged early to prevent any discontinuity in treatment", and later renewals "may be charged and/or shipped up to two (2) days early".

Pausing is a delay, not an exit. "If you do not cancel before the end of the pause period, charging to your payment device will resume automatically."

Pre-paid multi-month plans time differently, and unshipped medicine is forfeited. Where medication has been pre-shipped for a pre-paid multi-month plan, "cancellation must occur at least two (2) days before the next billing date following the end of your currently shipped supply". And bluntly: "If you cancel your Medication Plan, you will not receive any unshipped medication following your cancellation date."

Part of your billing is not with Hims & Hers at all. Where medication is fulfilled by Gifthealth, "billing and fulfillment will be conducted directly between you and Gifthealth, an independent, third-party pharmacy", and you "must manage cancellations, billing inquiries, and refund requests associated with your medication directly with Gifthealth". On the Hims & Hers side there are three routes: in-app or online under "My Subscriptions", the Customer Help Center, or calling 1-800-368-0038. Keep the confirmation and check next month’s statement anyway.

Every way the reward can still vanish

It can be taken back after it was granted, and the program can end under it. Hers reserves the right "to retroactively revoke or void any Rewards" it deems, in its sole discretion, procured in violation of the terms or "in association with content that Hers deems offensive or inappropriate". And above that: "Hers may suspend or terminate the RAF Program at any time for any reason. If Hers terminates the RAF Program, all unused Rewards will be revoked and forfeited at that time."

It is not money and cannot become money. Rewards "cannot in any circumstances be redeemed or exchanged for gift cards, cash or any cash equivalent", they "have no value outside of the RAF Program", and they "are not transferable". The tax line applies to both sides: each participant is "responsible for any tax consequences that may result from redemption or use of the Rewards".

Geography and age are hard gates. The program "is open only to individuals who are residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and who are 18 years of age or older at the time of participation".

And a clause aimed at anyone who writes about the brand. The prohibited-content list bans content that "is demeaning, disparages or tarnishes the goodwill, reputation, or brand image of Hers". A participant has agreed to a rule that a critical page would fall foul of.

The promotions that do carry numbers

The same terms page prices several partner offers to the dollar. These run for existing subscribers.

Eight Sleep Pod 5 Core, eligible subscribers, ends Dec 31, 2026$200 off
Eight Sleep Pod 5 Ultra, same offer and end date$350 off
Prenuvo whole body MRI, expires Aug 20, 2026$400 off
Test Kit Credit, minimum $80 purchase before taxes and fees$69 credit
Welcome Discount for new customersAmount not published

The welcome discount publishes no number and is "only applicable on eligible orders made through the special promotional Hims or Hers landing page"; arriving through the ordinary homepage can quietly cost it.

Skip this offer if

  • You are shopping for the referral rather than the treatment. You cannot get a link without buying first, the amount is invisible until you have, and it may only touch the platform fee.
  • Your friend is in your house, on your Wi-Fi, or on your card. Shared email, IP address, billing address or shipping information each independently void the reward. The most convenient person to refer is the one the terms exclude.
  • The plan includes Wegovy, or you are buying Labs by Hims & Hers. Both are excluded from a qualifying purchase, so the link earns nobody anything.
  • You want a compounded product and have not read their own disclosure. It sits under nearly every offer in their terms: "Compounded drug products are not FDA-approved. FDA does not evaluate compounded products for safety, effectiveness, or quality."

Is it worth your time?

If you already pay for something here and a friend is genuinely about to start, forward the link on the day they order and you will both get something real. That case is narrow. The bigger money is in the cancellation rules: two days’ notice, no refund on a part-used period, a pause that restarts itself, and a weight loss membership that keeps billing monthly after you cancel the medication. Set a reminder three days before every renewal, and cancel the membership, not just the prescription, when you are done.
