Whichever eToro company your account sits with decides the entire offer, down to whether the new user is paid at all. eToro operates through separate legal companies in different regions, and each one runs its own Refer a Friend programme with its own amounts and its own rules. The two we were able to read in full are the US programme and the European one, and they are not variations on a theme, they are different offers. Separate terms also exist for the UK, Australia, the Middle East, Singapore and Seychelles, and we have not read those, so do not carry any number here across a border.

Several affiliate sites state that the US programme also requires a $100 trade. The official US terms contain no trade requirement: they ask for registration, verification and a first-time cash deposit of at least $100. The trade requirement belongs to the European programme. We could not load eToro's live US invite page or help article to confirm what the app offers today, so treat the trade claim as unconfirmed in either direction, and check the app before you assume either way.
Do this, in this order
- Work out which eToro you are dealing with. The account you open is with a specific eToro company determined by where you live, and that decides your entire offer. Cross-entity referrals are blocked outright.
- If you are in the US, check your state. The eligible-state appendix lists 45 states plus DC and a couple of territories. Missing, and therefore not eligible: Hawaii, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada and New York. That appendix carries the same June 2023 date as the rest of the document, so confirm in the app.
- Click the referral link first, and start counting from that click. The US 30-day clock runs from the first click on the Refer a Friend link, not from registration.
- Register, verify, and make a first-time cash deposit of at least $100. Those three are the whole US requirement as published. Money moved in from another eToro product does not count.
- Referrers, make sure you have deposited too. The referrer must already have made a cash deposit, or make one within 30 days of their friend's registration.
- Leave the reward alone for 30 days. The money lands roughly 14 days after you qualify, and both sides agree not to withdraw amounts attributable to the reward for the first 30 days after it is funded.
- In Europe, understand the deal you are actually being offered. The new user gets nothing. The referrer must have opened trades totalling at least $100, must use their own unique link, and the friend has 90 days to deposit $100 and open at least $100 of trades. The payout is set by the referrer's Qualifying Balance: cash plus invested amounts, excluding unrealised profit and loss and leveraged CFD positions.
- One reward per household, however many devices you own. The limitation applies per account, per person, per means of payment, per household, and per any environment where computers are shared.
The fine print that can still cost you
The programme can be cancelled out from under a referral already in flight. The US terms state that if the promotion is terminated at any time, before or after the link is sent, the referred friend is not eligible for the reward even if they completed registration inside the 30 days. No notice requirement attaches.
The clawback is one-directional. eToro reserves the right to remove or deduct a reward that has been granted, while any loss the user suffered will be recognised and sustained. If they reverse the bonus, you keep the losses you made with it.
Nothing stacks. Refer a Friend is not valid in conjunction with any other promotion, discount or promo code.
The referring cap is low, and it is retrospective. The US reward is available once to the referred friend and up to ten times to the referrer, a lifetime maximum of $300, counting referrals made under earlier versions of the terms. In Europe the number of awards is ten at the lower balance bands and fifty at the top band.
The US paperwork is three years old. The document eToro's own US disclosure library links today is dated 8 June 2023, and the live pages that would confirm today's figure would not load for us. Check the amount in the app before trusting any published number, ours included.
Beyond the US and Europe, we cannot tell you anything. Separate Refer a Friend terms exist for the UK, Australia, the Middle East, Singapore and Seychelles. We did not read them and will not guess; the only reliable figure is the one on your own screen.
Is it worth your time?
In the US, on the published terms, this is one of the easier bonuses on the site: $30 for opening an account, verifying it and depositing $100, with no requirement to trade. What holds it back is confidence: the terms are from 2023, the live pages would not load for us, and eToro has written itself the right to end the promotion mid-referral. Take it if you were opening eToro regardless, and look at the number the app quotes you. In Europe, if you are the one being referred, there is nothing here for you.
