Citi stopped taking applications for the Citi Custom Cash Card on May 28, 2026, so there is no welcome bonus to earn and nothing on this page to sign up for.
The card's page at citi.com is still up, but it now opens with the heading Not Available and a three-sentence notice, and nothing else about the card. There is no apply button, no rewards description, no fee table and no terms link. Below the notice sit a Sign On link and a list of other Citi cards. Anything you have read about this card's welcome bonus describes an offer that closed with the applications.
What pays what
| You, applying for the Citi Custom Cash Card today | Nothing. Applications closed as of May 28, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Welcome bonus, spend target and window for a new cardholder | None published |
| Annual fee, rewards rate and terms for a new cardholder | Not shown; the page holds only the notice |
| An existing Citi Custom Cash cardmember | Keeps the card and its benefits, per Citi |
| What Citi offers a would-be applicant instead | An invitation to apply for the Citi Double Cash Card, on terms we did not read here |
Citi is no longer accepting applications for the Citi Custom Cash® Card product as of May 28, 2026. If you are interested in a cash back card, you are welcome to apply for the Citi Double Cash® Card.
The notice carries no date of its own beyond the cutoff it names.
Do this, in this order
- Do not try to apply. There is no application to make. The page's apply button is gone, and the only actions left on it are Sign On for existing customers and links to other Citi cards. Nothing we read describes a branch, phone or invitation route around the notice.
- Take the bonus out of any comparison. If a card table you are reading still shows a welcome offer for the Citi Custom Cash Card, treat that row as closed. Citi publishes no figure for it, so there is nothing for us to confirm or correct; the only current first-party statement about the card is the notice quoted above.
- If you already hold the card, keep using it as before. Citi's notice says: “Existing Citi Custom Cash cardmembers are not impacted and can continue to use their card and enjoy its benefits.” It does not say for how long, and it does not mention any change to rewards, fees or the cardmember agreement. We did not read that agreement for this page.
- If you want a cash back card, judge the replacement on its own page. Citi points applicants to the Citi Double Cash Card. We did not read its terms for this page and make no claim about its bonus, its fee or its rewards. Two cash back cards whose current offers we did read, and Citi's own checking bonus, are listed at the foot of this page.
What the page still carries, and what it does not
Visible: the notice, and nothing about the card. The visible page is the heading Not Available, the three sentences of the notice, a Sign On link, three other Citi cards with Card details links, and Citi's card-category filters. No rewards rate, no welcome offer, no annual fee, no pricing and terms link.
Hidden: data that outlived the card. The page's underlying data still describes the card's earning rule as “cash back on your top eligible category each billing cycle up to $500 spent.” with the percentage itself left blank, still lists No Annual Fee, and still tags the card among Citi's Special Offers and Cash Back cards. Citi's card-comparison page still holds an entry for the card that links to the product page. None of this is shown to a reader, but it is the kind of data a card-comparison tool or a search engine can surface, which may be why the card keeps appearing in lists.
Not stated. Why applications closed, whether they will reopen, the date the notice was posted, and what the welcome offer was when the card was open. The notice does not use the words discontinued or ended; it says applications are no longer accepted, and we have not read it as more than that.
No referral program, and nothing to link. No refer-a-friend or invite mechanic appears on the page; a would-be applicant is sent to a different card. With no application, there is no link or code for anyone, including this site, to carry.
Is it worth your time?
No, because there is nothing to apply for. The only readers with something at stake are existing cardmembers, and Citi's notice tells them they are not impacted. For everyone else the lesson is the usual one: a welcome bonus survives online long after the card that paid it stops taking applications. Citi's page is still indexed under the card's name and its hidden data still calls it a Special Offers card, so the figure will keep circulating.
If you are choosing a cash back card anyway, the first two below had live welcome offers when we last read their terms, and the third is Citi's checking bonus rather than a card. Each has conditions of its own, covered in its guide.
