$100in cash for the new client and $100 for the person who referred them, once $1,000 goes in and stays for six months

Divide the reward by the deposit and the answer is ten percent, paid in actual money, with no lottery, no share price to hope on, and no monthly subscription mentioned anywhere in the rules. That rate is bought with time and with a deadline: the program ends on August 31, 2026, and the funds have to sit for six months, the longest hold of any investing offer we have examined.

The deadline is real and it is close. tastytrade's published rules run this program from June 1, 2026 to August 31, 2026, and the page itself shows what happens next: the previous version expired on May 31, 2026 and was replaced by this one. tastytrade re-issues these roughly every three months with fresh figures, so a successor is likely but its terms are unknowable today. If you are reading this in September, assume every number on this page has been replaced and check the live rules.

What pays what

New client, $1,000 deposited within 60 days of opening$100 cash
The person who referred them$100 cash
You, referring friends, per calendar yearUp to $2,400 (24 bonuses)
Losing money trading during the six monthsDoes not break it
Withdrawing below $1,000 during the six monthsCredit can be revoked
Retirement accountsNot eligible
A new client living outside the United States$0
Anyone who has previously had a tastytrade account$0

Twenty-four bonuses a year is the most generous cap of any offer in this category, if you genuinely know that many people who want a brokerage account. The geography is lopsided: the person doing the referring may live in any country tastytrade lists as eligible, but everyone being referred must reside in the United States.

The six-month hold, in plain words

The gentle part: the $100 appears in the account and can be used for trading straight away, and losing money in the market does not endanger it. tastytrade states outright that decreases in account value from trading or market fluctuations do not affect eligibility. The harsh part: the bonus cannot be withdrawn as actual cash until the six months are up, and taking money out such that the account falls below the $1,000 minimum can get the credit revoked. Trading it down is fine. Withdrawing it out is not.

The six-month clock belongs to the new client, and it starts when they have met every opening and funding requirement. Your $100, as the referrer, is hostage to their account for those six months: if they withdraw below the minimum, you can lose your bonus for something you had no part in. Refer people who were actually going to use the account.

Do this, in this order

  1. Start before August 31, 2026. The program period is June 1 to August 31, 2026, and tastytrade reserves the right to suspend or revoke it even inside that window.
  2. Open the right kind of account. Individual, joint, entity, and trust accounts are eligible. Retirement accounts are not, so an IRA will not earn this. Both people must be 18 or over, and the new client must live in the United States and have never held a tastytrade account.
  3. Enter the referral code before you fund, not after. If the code was missed during signup it can still be added, but it must go in before funding and within 60 days of opening the account.
  4. Deposit at least $1,000 within 60 days of opening. That is the minimum initial deposit, and there is no trade requirement attached to it.
  5. Do not withdraw below $1,000 for six months. A withdrawal that drops the account under the minimum can have the credit revoked.
  6. Watch for the paperwork, and answer it fast. Referrers may be asked to sign an affidavit of eligibility, a liability release, and where it is legal a publicity release, within seven days of being notified.
  7. Expect the money about 45 days after qualifying. Bonuses are deposited into both accounts within 45 days after each referral credit is obtained, so the payment date sits well after the qualifying date.

The fine print that can still cost you the bonus

The clawback is a debit, not just a cancellation. Clawback is the industry word for taking a reward back after paying it, and tastytrade's version has teeth: it reserves the right to revoke the credit or bonus including by deducting the value of the bonus from the account balance of either party, at its sole discretion, if it decides the requirements were not met. That can leave you worse off than never having taken the offer.

Families of staff are out, broadly defined. Neither side may be an employee of tastytrade, its subsidiaries, affiliates, or agencies, and the exclusion extends to their families: spouses, parents, siblings, children, grandparents, and grandchildren.

No stacking, and no referring yourself. The program cannot be combined with any other offer, promotion, or marketing referral agreement, and referrers may not use their own link to open a different account in their own name.

Pending credits may or may not survive the deadline. After the program ends, tastytrade reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to roll pending or accumulated referral credits into a new or revised program. Reserving the right is not promising to do it, so do not leave a half-finished referral sitting across August 31.

What we did not check. The referral rules mention no subscription fee, and we did not read tastytrade's commission and pricing schedule on this pass. Read it before you decide, particularly if you plan to trade options actively.

Compare the other investing offersSee how the $1,000 deposit stacks up against Public, M1, and the rest.

Is it worth your time?

Yes, with a calendar reminder. A hundred dollars in cash for a thousand deposited is the best rate in this category by a wide margin: it beats Public's $20 on the same $1,000 five times over, and unlike M1 it does not want ten thousand of your money to get there. What you are really agreeing to is that the $1,000 lives at tastytrade until roughly six months after you fund, and that the bonus cannot be cashed out before then. Start before August 31, because on September 1 this program is gone and its replacement is anybody's guess.

  • tastytrade, on a $1,000 deposit$100
  • Public, on the same $1,000$20

Both figures sit against a $1,000 deposit. tastytrade pays cash and holds it six months; Public pays in stock behind a 12-month lock.
