Join Replit through a link and you get $20 in credits, but only once you start paying. Even then, it’s credits, never cash.
Credits, in Replit's own documentation, apply to Agent usage, deployments, storage and other usage-based services, which is a precise way of saying they buy more Replit. There is no cash option on that page, no gift card and no payout, and credits is the load-bearing word.

Do this, in this order
- Decide whether Replit credits are worth anything to you. Credits are the only currency this offer deals in. They spend on Agent usage, deployments, storage and other metered services, and they buy nothing outside Replit. If you wanted cash or a gift card, stop here.
- Arrive through a referral link as a new customer. Each Replit user's link sits in the referrals tab of their account settings, behind a login, so you need it from someone who already uses Replit. The reward is for a new customer, so sign up through the link, not before it.
- Make sure you actually become a paying customer. The wording is “every new paying customer”. Sign up, build something on the free tier and never upgrade, and you get nothing at all. This only breaks even if you were already going to buy Core.
- Spend the credits soon after they land. Replit's pricing documentation states that the extra above your monthly allocation may be referral or promotional credits, “which have their own expiration dates”. It then never says what those dates are. Treat the credits as perishable.
- Screenshot the terms you are relying on. The whole program is a few sentences on a marketing page that ends by saying terms may change at any time at Replit's discretion and no guarantees are made. There is no dated document to point at later.
The fine print that decides whether you keep it
The clauses that would normally govern a referral are simply not written anywhere.
There is no referral contract at all. We searched the full Terms of Service for the word “referral” and found it zero times, and no separate referral terms document exists that we could find. What exists is a marketing page.
Replit confirms the credits expire and declines to say when. The pricing documentation is specific that referral or promotional credits have their own expiration dates; the dates themselves are published nowhere we searched. Assume the credits are perishable, and spend them.
Nobody has written down what happens if you take a refund. Replit's Terms of Service give a buyer full refunds for subscription payments made within 30 days of purchase. Whether your $20 in credits survives that refund is not published anywhere.
Nothing is published on countries, identity checks, caps or tax. If any of these matter to you, the only stated route to an answer is emailing Replit.
“Instantly” is a marketing claim, not a term. The referral page says the credits arrive instantly. No holding period, minimum tenure or reversal window is published in either direction.
Replit publishes no affiliate program for sites. Replit's partner page lists Integration, Solution, Education and Government tracks, all for firms. Ordinary users get only the in-app referral.

You only want the free plan and have no intention of paying for Replit. A free sign-up gets no credits at all, and paying to collect them costs about what they are worth.

Is it worth your time?
If you were going to pay for Replit anyway, yes, and it takes about a minute: sign up through a link from someone who already uses it, and $20 comes off your usage once you subscribe. If you only wanted the free plan, the credit is out of reach until you pay $20 for a month of Core for the privilege of spending $20, and the whole thing rests on four sentences that end by saying no guarantees are made. Take the $20 if a link is in front of you. Do not organize an afternoon around it.
If you go on to refer people yourself
Once you use Replit, each new paying customer who signs up through your link earns you $20 in credits, at a flat rate: five is $100, fifty is $1,000. On the free plan, every app you publish carries a “Made with Replit” badge with your link inside it, and Replit's Starter plan documentation says those credits reach you only once you upgrade to a paid plan.
