TD Bank's advertised $500 is a $300 checking bonus plus $200 for parking $10,000 in savings; without the $10,000, a new customer is looking at $200 or $300.
TD Complete Checking pays $200 for $500 in qualifying direct deposits within 60 days. TD Beyond Checking pays $300 for $2,500. The page's headline, up to $500, is not the two added together. It is the $300 plus a separate $200 for opening a new TD Signature Savings account, depositing at least $10,000 within the first 20 days, and holding that balance for 90 additional days. No invitation is needed for any of it.
What pays what
| New TD Complete Checking, $500 total in qualifying direct deposits within 60 days | $200 |
|---|---|
| New TD Beyond Checking, $2,500 total in qualifying direct deposits within 60 days | $300 |
| New TD Signature Savings, $10,000 in within 20 days and held 90 additional days | $200 |
| A direct deposit under $250, a person to person payment, or a transfer from your own account elsewhere | Does not count |
| Anyone who has received a TD personal checking account bonus at any time | $0 |
| Share the Green referral, opened in a TD store with an existing customer's code | $100 |
You will not qualify for the Checking Bonus if you are an existing TD Bank personal checking Customer OR had a previous personal checking account that was closed within the preceding 12 months OR have received a prior personal checking account bonus at any time.
The last clause has no time limit. The savings bonus has the same three-part rule of its own, covering TD personal savings and money market accounts. TD Bank Canadian Cross-border banking customers are not eligible for either.
Do this, in this order
- Check your history, then start from TD's own offer page. The disclosure reads: “Offer valid through November 30, 2026 and is available only when opening through a qualifying website and who qualify as outlined below.” TD does not define a qualifying website on the page, so the safe reading is to begin on the offer page itself.
- Choose the account by the payroll you can move. Beyond Checking costs $25 a month unless you have $5,000 or more in direct deposits within a statement cycle, a $2,500 minimum daily balance, or a $25,000 combined balance across linked accounts. If your pay cannot clear $5,000 a cycle and you will not park $2,500, six unwaived months is $25 times 6, or $150, which is half of the $300. Complete Checking's fee is also waived when the primary account holder is 17 through 23 years old.
- Move payroll at once. You have 60 days for the deposits to post. Each one must be an electronic direct deposit of payroll, pension or government benefits, such as Social Security, of at least $250. A $200 deposit counts for nothing toward the total. Transfers between your TD accounts, or from accounts you hold at other banks or brokerages, are not direct deposits.
- For the savings $200, read the clock carefully. At least $10,000 must be in within the first 20 days, and the balance must stay at $10,000 or more for 90 additional days counted from the 20th day after opening. That is 110 days with $10,000 tied up.
- Wait, and keep everything open. TD deposits the bonus on or before 180 days from account opening, and the account must not be closed or restricted at the time of payout. TD may ask the primary owner for an IRS Form W-9 and may issue a Form 1099 for the value of the bonus.
The referral route, and the stale TD pages still online
Share the Green pays $100, in person. The new customer must give a friend's code when opening a TD personal checking account at a TD store, then receive one qualifying direct deposit of at least $250 or make 15 qualifying TD Visa Debit Card purchases within 60 days. The $100 arrives no later than 95 days from opening. The same 12-month lookback and six-month closure rule apply. “You are not eligible for a Share the Green Bonus if you use your own unique referral code to open an account. TD Employees and non-US residents are not eligible.” The page does not say whether it can be combined with the checking bonus above.
A larger offer that is over. A live td.com page still advertises up to $600: $400 on Beyond Checking, $300 on Complete Checking and $200 on Signature Savings. Its own footnote ends it: “Offer valid from January 12, 2026, through March 18, 2026, and is available only to the person addressed in the mailer or email.” If a search lands you there, those are not today's figures.
An affiliate page a year out of date. Another live page, titled TD Bank Affiliate Checking Account Offer, shows the same $300 and $200 but says: “Offer through June 30, 2025 and is available only when opening through a qualifying website and who qualify as outlined below.” Two first-party pages, two end dates. We treat the general offer page, with November 30, 2026, as the live one.
What TD does not publish. None of the five td.com pages we read (the offer page, Share the Green, the $600 mailer page, the affiliate page and TD's Special Offers page) carries a revision date, and none lists states where the offer is or is not available. TD says only: “Offer may be withdrawn at any time.” Two other TD bonus pages on a separate tdbank.com address timed out, so we have not read them.
Is it worth your time?
For someone with a regular paycheck and no TD history, the $200 on Complete Checking is the clean one. Two ordinary pay deposits of $250 or more meet the $500, and the same $500 of direct deposits in a statement cycle waives the $15 fee, so the account costs nothing while your pay goes there. The work is in the six months after: keep $500 in it or keep the deposits coming, and do not close it early. The $300 suits someone whose pay already clears $5,000 a cycle or who can leave $2,500 sitting there.
The savings $200 is $200 divided by $10,000, or 2 percent, for 110 days of a locked balance. We did not read a Signature Savings interest rate, so we do not compare it. The offer now runs to November 30, 2026, but TD says it may be withdrawn at any time, so check the date on TD's page before you apply.
